Carla was recommended to me after a very bad experience with a different law firm and attorney. I wish I would have found her first. She knows her stuff and it was nice to have her on my side. She worked with me and my concerns, especially financially. Her communication skills, knowledge, and drive to get the job done are all you need for any complicated legal issue. She's not afraid of anyone or anything, which was important when dealing with a very difficult ex-husband. I'd hire her again in a heartbeat.

Carla is the best! I would highly recommend Carla to anyone going through a divorce. She helped me and my children through tough times when I got divorced 13+ years ago. If not for Carla, I have no doubt that I would have lost visitation of my children. To all you fathers out there who only want to raise your children and move on with your life. I know from personal experience with our legal system that the deck is stacked against you. You need someone who is highly knowledgeable of family law, who understands the importance of a father in their children’s lives. You need someone who is tough as nails and who will fight for you and you kids. Carla is that person.

When I got divorced in 2009, I did not have an attorney and thought I could advocate for myself in court. I was so wrong. Many years later, my decisions came back to haunt me, so this time around I searched for an attorney who would fight all the way for me. When I read Carla's reviews, what made me want to meet her and have her represent me was her diligence and years working with child custody court cases. I need someone with real experience because it makes a big difference. I really liked the quick and thought-out communition from her. I knew that my battle was going to be difficult because of the situation my children and I were in. After 5 months, my case has still not yet settle, but I believe Carla has the best interest in my children and I. Because of her, I can sleep at night knowing that she will do what it takes to make things right.

Carla is a great attorney who helped me in family court with a difficult case that my previous attorney had made worse. She is extremely honest (be prepared!) but she knows the system and what to do. She is mindful to not just bill and bill as well. I would highly recommend her. I am so grateful what I was able to find her and everything she did to help my family.

I have told many people what a fantastic attorney Carla is. I cannot say enough good things! Carla was able to get a great deal for me and fought hard to make that happen. After the first court appointment, I knew that she had my back and I did not need to worry. She let me know what I needed to provide and we were always prepared for the next step! Divorce is not easy but she walked me through it as smoothly as it could have been done.

I was very nervous about getting a lawyer and was so thankful for her. She was very tenacious and really knew what she was doing. I felt she was careful to do what was necessary and not wasted any time or money on unnecessary things. She represented me for 4 court dates and did an amazing job. There were a lot of challenges and many surprises. She was prepared for all of them. She was professional, handled so much paperwork and always responded quickly to emails and phone calls from me. I highly recommend her.

Carla accomplished in a few months, what other downtown, high-priced family law attorneys couldn't accomplish in 3 years--she got me support! Carla is tough--so be ready for raw candor that is not necessarily what you want to hear--but she is honest and sets expectations on target. When she was in the courtroom, her knowledge, abilities and professionalism was beyond anything I'd ever seen before. The judge even commented about how she appreciated working with Carla! I would recommend Carla to anyone who needs a family law attorney.

Karla explained my possible courses of action in a very clear and professional. She outlined the time frame for each step in the process and proceeded with each step in a timely manner. The cost was exactly what she said it would be. Karla's value can not be measured. She helped me make the right decisions at the right time and never left any vital information unsaid. Unpretentious, approachable, efficient, aggressive, practical, and honest. Always looking to the client's interests both in terms of the case at hand and as regards cost. None of the petty bill-padding inefficiencies you see with other lawyers. Facing an adversary with deep pockets and expensive, rapacious lawyers, Carla used smart, aggressive tactics to secure an excellent settlement, and in record time. She prevented us having to go to trial and got me everything I needed, sometimes thinking outside the box to do it. It was also obvious when we walked in the courtroom that the judge respected Carla. I think that goes a long way. My son and I are facing a happier and more secure future because of Carla's work.

My biggest complaint is I was Not told about the ten year benchmark. I was married for 9 years and a few months. Had I waited a little I could have drawn on my husbands social security. This would have made a huge difference in my retirement. Choosing the wrong lawyer will cost me for the rest of my life. We also had a sympathetic judge and that was not used to any advantage.I believe I could have done much with just about anyone else.she didn't seem to be on my side at all. It seemed she often asked for less than what was being offered.On the day of our trial she left her wallet at home and spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to meet up with her husband so she could pay for parking. Its in the court record because she talked about it with the judge! My life is in the hands of this woman? I was shocked by her lack of professionalism throughout my case. If I questioned anything I was berated. And of course charged for every question or interaction in 15 min.increments.

Carla really got the job done for me. I should have been able to settle my divorce out of court but my ex had other ideas. Carla addressed each issue raised by my ex, presented an excellent case in court, and I ended up with more than I had asked for. Thank you Carla!

Carla was the only one willing to take my case - involving a complex third party visitation issue during my divorce. She guided me through the process and made sure that I had the best representation possible. In the end - I was able to continue visitation with my non-biological child whom has always been my son to me.

After first meeting with Carla, she seemed very confident with everything. She told me not to speak at all during the court date and that she would handle everything thrown at us from my ex over visitation/custody. We get to court and Carla doesn't have an answer to anything. The judge asked me questions and acted like I was dumb for not answering. Carla even went over to ask my ex a few questions after the court date. She laughed with him as if they were good friends. In the end, I got only half of what I wanted. Carla was no help and the judge now thinks I'm dumb. Thanks a lot Carla. I would not recommend her nor will I ever have her again.

Carla was very through and had a great deal of knowledge regarding divorce law. She not only looked out for my best interest but at the same time she kept me in check. I was 100% confident that Carla knew what she was doing and indeed she proved that throughout my entire divorce proceedings. My divorce was not as cut and dry as some and Carla definitely was there to help make sure that my best interest came first and that all bases were covered. I absolutely would recommend Carla to anyone looking for a divorce attorney.

I used Ms. Kjellberg 14 yrs ago in my divorce and custody case. Carla was absolutely the right lawyer for me. My ex played VERY dirty and, because of her experience, Carla knew what to expect and expertly guided me through the entire process. She fought long & hard for my children and me and was successful in every area. I was so impressed with her that 12 years later I recommended her to my best friend. She successfully negotiated and fought her divorce and custody battle, as well. I can't say enough good things about this woman. I'd recommend her to ANYONE who needs a knowledgeable, tough lawyer in her corner.

I disagree with the other post. I had Carla for a child custody issue and specifically went to her on a referral that she is known to handle cases where domestic violence is involved. She told me specifically what information I needed to collect on my ex and present to the guardian ad litem and how to handle the interviews and court proceedings. We pulled a very conservative judge and guardian ad litem who recommended supervised visitation for my ex. After her fighting with the guardian ad litem and the judge we received the ruling that my ex could have no contact with his daughter and I was awarded full custody. Because of Carla my daughter is a happy, healthy, well adjusted 5 year old now. I cringe to think what could have happened if it would have went differently. I think she is an excellent attorney for women.

Although Carla has years of experience, and knows the letter of the law she takes a very passive stance.I often wondered who's side she was on.She saved her criticism for me and her manners for the opposing side.She was very adamant that she knew what I could expect rather than having any faith that we could win.My husband had a DUI,a history of lying on his taxes and had contracted an STD during our marriage.Carla never brought any of this information out and was determined to settle before going to court.She was at times verbally abusive to myself and to members of the early neutral evaluation team.The only reason I stayed with her is that I ran out of money and could not afford a retainer for another lawyer.This was the worst experience of my life and I will be paying for my mistake for the next 10 years.Please choose your lawyer carefully and unless you want to settle without a fight,in which case a paralegal will do, find someone besides Ms. Kjellberg.She looks tough but isn't!
