Robert Canfield is an attorney who also practices as a part-time magistrate in the same county. St. Joseph County obviously doesn't take ethics or conflicts of interest seriously. How is anyone supposed to get a fair trial when their lawyer is up against Mr. Canfield, who is a colleague of the other judges? All of his cases should be reviewed- this is bias at it's finest.

His firm tried to keep a child away from a father. I understand the law is the law but that is ethically immoral. Not a family man or a good person.

Horrible unethical lawyer that will not defend you properly. He lied in the court of law and made me look like the bad guy and he was supposed to defend me!!!! Do not trust this guy. Poor standards for his clients and will bleed you dry. Kept an ongoing fight with my exwife that was completely unnecessary. Runs a divorce mill and has little morals. Not compentent and lacks knowledge in the court room. Definitely NOT recommended by any means.

Does not address the statue of the law or explain my rights to defend me.Communication is awful;does not communicate information in timely manner or relay.Weak in standing by his client,or having defending his clients rights. Work quality is unethical. With his inattention to your case you will be broke . They say you have a right to be represented ? but be humiliated by this lawyer at your own cost.Sad lesson learned as he told me it was always my fault and I followed his advise.

My ex husband has Mr. Canfield. He does a very good job for my ex but I have been screwed in the process. If he's fighting for you he's a good attorney to have on your side.

Mr.Canfield is highly recomended. He is short to the point , doesn't waist time and gets the job done . I am a woman and I highly recommend him .

Mr. Canfield was professional, ethical and very caring. Listens as if what you are saying is the most important thing! I would recommend him to everyone (and I already have). So nice to have a lawyer that is down to earth, honest, reliable and hard driven to help his clients.

I thought I could work with my xwifes lawyer. He stretched it out for close to 2 years. I went with Mr. Canfield. With him we had it all completed within 2 months. Mostly from xwife and her lawyer dragging it out. He is not a big fighter. He realizes that fighting over small items will cost much more in lawyer fees than it is worth. He is a tear it in half and be done. Value??? They all cost money.

Mr. Canfield is very knowledgable, however, it seems his drive, to win a case, lacks. Correspondance is minimal leaving you in the dark. Explanations and directions lack. I have a friend (male) who has utilized Mr. Canfield and has had glowing success. I do not reccomend Mr. Canfield if you are a female filing for divorce or any custody issues. It has been 16 months since I filed and still no divorce! His explanations of processes are vague. His organization lacks. Maybe for other types of cases, that do not require an aggressive approach, he may be good. I am hoping this will help someone as I wish I had this knowledge before hand. Good luck

I am sad to say that I have been very disappointed with this lawyer. I have been working with him for too long now on my divorce that was "finalized" almost 3 years ago. He has failed to really finalize anything for me. And while he does appear to know the Law he has not been proactive about gaining this client closure (on multiple counts). He has often been condescending and curt.
