We had a similar experience. Numerous lies and avoiding any contact. We were offered a sttlement and he advised us not to accept. Then he misses the pretrial hearing and our case was dismissed. He then lied to us again and assures us our case was moving forward even though he knew the case had been dismissed. He gave us the case back and did not want to discuss refunding our money. We went to a second lawyer who advised us the case was dismissed. Malpractice and incompetent.

Hired for a simple divorce. He did not catch an error on the final decree papers from the judge. He did catch error on court documents I caught the error when I received the papers, that very day I called his office and 1 and 1/2 years later I am still trying to get him to do what has to be done and contact the court to get my maiden name back. I have called his office almost weekly for over a year. I have been lied to and avoided. He was paid very well and up front. RUN from this lawyer. He is also a Magistrate in SC. I assumed he knew the law and knew how to handle filings. Getting the divorce is taking longer than the 14 month marriage did.
