I paid Matt Higgins $60k for worst case scenario as the final result in my case. He’s a snake oil salesman. He’s great at making you think he believes in your case and cares about you, whilst dragging it out as long as possible and draining you of every dime he can. He gives immoral and harmful advice and once you finally figured him out and fire him, he’ll try to sue you as well. Ask any attorney around about him. They’ll tell you the same thing. Don’t get duped by his charm!

Higgins is a joke and only cares about money and dragging cases on to get more of it. He's very fake too and doesn't talk to you like a human being. Find a lawyer that cares and skip this guy.

Mr. Higgins is the best divorce attorney in Omaha, bar none! He exudes professionalism and produces results! I highly recommend him for all your divorce needs. Mr. Higgins is one of the most intelligent person I have ever known. He quickly analyzes complicated and emotionally charged situations and arrives at practical, cost effective solutions. Extremely poor communication. Staff would send an email to submit affidavit within two hours and not call to inform me of time sensitive matters. Higgins was consistently confusing my case with others. I would agree that he encourages his clients to spend money on things that won't affect the outcome of the case such as the Private Investigator. Good salesman when you go for the counseling but staff and attorney don't provide the product you are paying for. ($450/hr)

There were errors on documents that should have been caught with basic proofreading. My simple case took longer and cost more than it should have.

He never communicated anything and was extremely difficult or impossible to reach for questions or direction. He would show up at least 40 minutes late for appointments. He appeared to be working more for the other side. He appeared to drag the case out just to get more money for work with no proof he ever actually did. He never represented me or my opinions in court and said things to the judge and opposing lawyer that he never discussed with me and I never agreed to and over all cost me more in my case. He never was properly prepared for court dates nor did he represent me in the manor I deserved to be represented. When asked about what work he was doing, he became irate and defensive and instead sent me a recommendation letter to see a shrink. The only time his office seemed efficient was when they wanted more money. He overcharged for services and items that were not performed or poorly carried out. Frustrating and expensive with no results. Still fighting to get remaining balance.

Spent $23,000 in fees to only get to the temporary hearing. Never returned calls, horrible communication. Duped me out of money, convinced me to spend money I didn't need to on a PI service - took advantage of me and complicated my case more than was ever necessary.

Missed a filing deadline which cost me my case. Misappropriated trust funds we deposited with him for services he never performed. Took 6 years to get a refund, and only after threatening to report him to the bar for trust fund violations. Horrible attorney & staff.
