Should have filed a grievance but I was too ignorant... For *more than a year*, after paying a $5000 retainer, I would call one or two times a week, and only a handful of times did I hear anything back at ALL, usually from an assistant, telling me that she would be back with me "soon."
The same for email contact. I eventually heard back, after months of total silence, with the news that she had met with my husband (directly), without my knowledge, and worked out an arrangement that "they thought would work for him." -Not what was best for me and my child.
I fired her and had to come up with another $5000 for a different lawyer, who was actually responsive and working for me. I wish I knew then what I now know, about how an attorney is supposed to be responsible to clients. It cost me time and money I just didn't have.
