I was a client in a mediation case, and found Karen to be unprofessional as a mediator. She didn't bother to introduce herself to me when we first "met," and I was never given the opportunity to tell her my requests in the dispute. I had to piecemeal my wants and this seemed like a backwards way to work a case. It felt like she didn't know how to mediate. She was brisk, rude and condescending. She made disparaging remarks to me that I thought were inappropriate. In lieu of smoothing over hard feelings between me and the person I was mediating, she fanned the fires; thus, leading to unnecessary hard feelings that were later resolved outside of her office. In hindsight, I should have walked out of her office as we were able to resolve more differences away from her. I felt ripped off--violated--for the fee that I paid and the service that I received, and I would NOT recommend this person as a mediator to anyone.
