I have used Debra K. Henkels in the past for a number of legal issues, including child custody and for the preparation of wills. She is one of the most professional individuals I have used in dealing with problems that require legal representation. She knows the law and was able to explain it to us so that we were informed as our case moved forward. Ms. Henkels tried to resolve our issues amicably, but the other side was unreasonable, and we had to go to a full custody trial. Ms. Henkels was aggressive and passionate about getting us custody of my husband’s son from a prior marriage. The judge ruled in our favor. The relief we felt cannot be put into words.
Ms. Henkels is honest, works hard on your case and doesn’t waste time. She returned our calls in a timely fashion and provided excellent legal practical advice. Even though it is a stressful time, she is somehow able to make you laugh and put you at ease. I never felt judged.

My experiences with Debra K. Henkels have been extraordinary and I highly recommend her. She is well versed in all aspects of Family Law, with exceptional skills in matters of child custody. She represented me for a child custody case and was able to get me sole custody of my son along with a judgment of child support. She achieved a tremendous amount of results in my favor in an extremely short amount of time, including a name change for my son so we could share the same last name. She is approachable, thorough, competent, and fair. I have referred her to others on more than one occasion and have had only positive feedback from their experiences with her. Debra Henkels was an outstanding lawyer for me. I recomend her for anyone having trouble finding a good lawyer. She stuck with my case for over a year and got me a great outcome. If you need a comfirmation that she will be good for your case take it from me.

This attorney is horrible!. She was paid retainer for contested divorce. I did all her leg work for her as far as financial documentations and so forth. I am a working mom full time with four children and thanks to debra I have to pay the future ex child support. This is due to he is too lazy to get a full time job and she would not file any motions in court.All she kept telling me was to take the "higher road" She can't even return phone calls about court dates and new evidence and so forth. I had to call the police on two occasions regarding the ex and reports were filed. She still did nothing She will take your money and do nothing. Slidell residents BEWARE and avoid her unless you want to end up spending more money to fire her once you hire her.Needless to say a formal complaint has been filed on her for her lack of professionalism and work ethics
