Her firm helped me during my divorce in which my ex husband was violent. I was very happy to have her and her firm in my corner. She is now a judge but I would recommend her if she still practiced. Communication was very good and helpful throughout.

Vanessa Zecher was the worst & most costly advice I’d ever received.I’m speechless that my atty friend recommended her. My divorce was classic: husband cheats, calculates outcome and leaves. Vanessa was insensitive, a no-show at critical meetings, drug the process on too long, & recruited add’l unnecessary, costly legal scvs along the way. She tried to pressure me to release her when I questioned progress, but I was too $ invested, exhausted & fragile to start over. When I shared pertinent experiences about my case, she’d say, “I’m not your therapist.” When I inquired about my husbands lack of $ responsibility, she actually said, “You married an idiot, what can I say?” All money from the sale of my home went to pay legal services. After 20+ years of marriage, the outcome was $0 spousal support and minimal child support for 2 of my 3 children. I would have been better off keeping my $70K and having my kids represent me. That she would be granted a judgeship is a travesty for us all.

One of the most difficult, unlikeable, unfriendly lawyers I have ever met. Makes everything a battle, even when the parties would like to try to resolve things amicably. I know two separate clients of hers that feel that they were ripped off. Hard to believe she is a judge.

Wow, I am surprised to see all the bad reviews. Vanessa handled my divorce in 2005/6 and did a great job representing my interests. I got a fair result in spite of a very contentious custody case. She advised rightly on when to push and when to settle. Her office billed reasonably. She is not cheap but I was overall happy with the value. Now she is a judge and I even voted for her.

The fact that this woman is running for superior court judge now is downright terrifying. She was court appointed to represent a child in a case close to me, and has done absolutely nothing for this child in 9 years. The former child is now almost an adult who is a troubled drug user, a once A student now failing in every way, in school and with suicide attempts, all because this "attorney" made constant threats to take her away from the violently abusive parent who hurt her, yet never once followed through on them in all these years. Wonder how many other children's lives she has destroyed because the court entrusted these vulnerable children to her while she did zero to ever protect them?

Told me to sign settlement agreement that violated terms of a college trust, failed to consult probate attorney about impact of settlement on college trust, failed to relay my withdrawal of consent to settlement to opposing counsel, told me all the judges were ill-tempered, ill-prepared, or just plain ill. BAR ENDORSED HER FOR JUDGE POSITION=WARNING. She erased her signature from settlement but not mine and sent it to opposing counsel and it was entered into court order. Then lied to me. AMBITIOUS, DISHONEST, MANIPULATIVE, AND EXPOITIVE; just wanted to be a judge like mommmy and hubby.

Wow I really wish I had read this before I spent pver 27K on a divorce with Vannessa Office. I have spent over 19 months paying these people only to go to trail and make me hate my EX. Frankly I am not better off today than I was then and now im Losing my house, down to a fraction of my savings. Frankly this office has done little to further my cause and now I am forced to drop them right before trial- Who goes to trail for a divorce? Apparently Zehcher does. Seriously do not look at this firm for anything

She was terrible
After 22 hearings and $19,000 couldnt deal with the opposing counsel Married only 1 yr deeded out of my home She gives case to Donald Kilmer and he promises trial after another yr threatens me to file a claim I was mentally unstable to go to trial if i didnt settle out of court he drew up the motion charged me $450 for it Never got to go to trial He and Vanessa used my disability of clinical depression and high blood pressure to get me to settle The deed was fraudulent and I am hoping the DA will prosecute my ex and the loan officer It has been presented to the DA that the deed wasnt done by Chicago Title
Vanessa admitted she had a past with opposing counsel William Dresser and couldnt deal with him but didnt return my $19,000 or help me go to trial for justice.....
