When I employed Brett Bender in my divorce, he had excellent knowledge of the state laws and saved me from making a few very bad choices based on the fact that I moved from Texas. Mr. Bender looked out for my and my children's best interest in getting away from an abusive husband/father. I was in a state where I was afraid and barely able to get through the days. He fought to make sure the kids and I got what we needed and then explained things to me that I did not understand. He told me ways I could save money by providing information so that I didn't have to pay for him doing research and papers I could easily file so that I didn't have to pay his firm for it. I gave him a lesser rating for work quality only because after the court date, he forgot to file the final papers for three or four months. But, then when it was all over, he refunded me the unused portion of the retainer. I have recommended him to others that I know in Portland.

Mr. Bender is unprofessional and his tactics are very immature. However, luckily he presented my ex-husband. So take ease if he is in the opposing corner; his competence runs parallel to a ill manured adolescent. Respectically yours, the very happy ex-wife.

Brett Bender is a horrible Lawyer. He is disorganized, unprofessional and refused to keep me abreast of agreements he was making with the opposing counsel that were incredibly detrimental to my case. He CANCELLED my hearing against my specific written direction not to. He overbilled me for three months before he up and quit. He would constantly raise his voice, use the F-word, and would accuse me of lying. It became so obvious he was working to run up his billing at my expense that I demanded a list of accomplishments on my behalf. That's when his boss called me and told me I was "ruining" the case. Upon my second request they QUIT. Do NOT use Brett Bender or Goldberg & Jones. BUYER BEWARE!

Brett Bender did not do what I was billed for. I had to keep calling him in order to submit documents to the court, on 2 occasions court documents were not field with the court even after I was billed for the service. I was over billed, Bender charged me 3 seperate times for research on the same law.

He failed miserably to protect my interests. He overbilled me for time he spent looking for my file. He would give a good pep talk about all he would do but then didn't follow through with filing motions or getting discovery. Helped ruin my finances.

The guy did not seem to care. I had to resend him documents multiple times because he was not organized. I felt like he was working for the other party rather than working for my best interest.
