Hired Chad for a family adoption with the only opposing party not being represented. Quoted 8-10k which seemed fine to finalize a simple adoption. 25k later, my family questions his billing practices and wants a more detailed breakdown to explain his request for another 10k. Wouldn't give me any accounting for the spending and had his accountant tell me he wouldn't have time to talk to me until we put the 10k in "trust". We had a court ordered telephone conference due in two days to which he refused to take unless we paid for services not due for at least a month. We had a zero balance with the firm and only asked to pay for his time to make the call. He refused without the 10k. Spoke to the court, found out that was unethical and he wasn't allowed to not take the call without removing himself. We had problems with his way of spending our funds from the start but after him threatening to ruin our child's case, we fired him. Be prepared to correct all the work his assistant prepares.

Forgetting our first meeting should have been my first clue (and a huge warning sign), but I gave Chad the benefit of doubt and continued to work with him. BIG MISTAKE. I probably should have sent Schmidt & Gladstone an invoice, since I ended up writing up my own settlement documents. Chad and I would talk about what I wanted, he acted like he understood, and then it was either incorrect or completely omitted from each draft. I ended up writing the thing myself. Also, there were literally over one hundred spelling errors in every copy he sent me... to a point where I wondered how he graduated high school, let alone got a law degree. The most disturbing problem is that he lied time and time again. He would say he had prepared a motion or completed a draft of the settlement agreement, yet when asked to provide documents, he couldn't. It would have been cheaper to use my previous "expensive" lawyer and have things done correctly the first time than what Chad ended up costing me.

My sister went to Chad Gladstone for a divorce. He charged her a large retainer. We asked to see the petition for divorce that he prepared before it was filed. It stated that everything should be awarded to her husband. When we went to see Mr. Gladstone about it, he said it was a typo that would have been fixed before filing. She fired him and should have gotten more of her money refunded. He kept half of her retainer. He even charged $800 for reviewing her Petition--and never caught the error.

At first while I was tentative to get legal help for my issue, due to prior negative experiences from an "expert", I am incredibly happy that I was referred to Chad. The results were well worth what I put into the situation, and he really did an amazing job getting results beyond what previous professionals had gotten me in the past. He was knowledgeable about the entire process and had answers for all my questions and solid advice as well. The entire process was over and done within a week.

He took 50% of my settlement for his fee. I don't feel like I got good advice and was left with nothing after 10 years of marriage.Chad Gladstone and my ex were the winners, not me. I am now struggling to take care of my family. I thought they would give me good advice and want the best for their client.

DON'T HIRE THIS GUY. He comes off really smooth but he showed up 30 minutes late to our hearing and didn't have the paperwork he needed. This happened more than once and he of course never forgot to charge me for the hearing. Many of the documents he produced for me had errors that were important such as switching Petitioner and Respondent which would award my exwife more time. He is expensive, and after I hired a new attorney when I went back to court with my ex I realized what a bad attorney he really was.

Chad is a great attorney who will always return your calls. He isn't cheap, but he is good and worth the money.
