I hired Stephanie for help with a family law matter. She was never available. It took weeks to get a response to phone calls and emails. Interns with the firm or other attorneys whom I’d never met would show up in court instead of Stephanie. If I hadn’t signed the checks myself I would’ve thought that she was the opposing council. Stephanie literally talked down to me, and was completely unprepared for court and our case. I initially hired her because I was naïve and had never had to deal with attorneys or court before. She told me everything I wanted to hear. None of which came to fruition.Beware and be warned!!

Virtually could have had the same results without a lawyer. She didn't know many of the laws or formulas, which I had to find in the end and bring to court myself and find out that the opposing attorney had the same numbers/info as me. Secondly, she refused to communicate with the opposing attorney so an agreement could be came to sooner. These delays cost valuable time and money for me. In the end, most of the basic actions that you would expect your attorney to complete, she was unable or didn't put in the effort to do so. Her lack of current Wisconsin law and formula is extremely concerning.

Attorney Benske never stepped up to be an advocate for me as her client. She was always behind both in responses and strategy. She allowed the opposing attorney to distract her on small items, and loose focus on core issues, which caused fees to run out of control.

I am writing this review to warn and to help others like myself who thought Stephanie would do her best to work on my behalf and because I feel everyone deserves someone better than this. If you plan on retaining Stephanie please do not. In the end I feel you would be almost as successful just going to court representing yourself. At least it would save you the money and the anger it brings when you pay someone who you think has your back but does not. She showed up completely unprepared to see the commissioner on our first round of court proceedings and made it seem like it was no big deal. In that session with the commissioner My ex-husband literally won EVERYTHING he asked for including child support (I am not exaggerating here) The only thing he didn’t receive were the lawyer fees he was asking for. She totally blew it. And to be honest as a single mother in Wisconsin I didn’t think it was possible to fail so miserably. Please heed my warning and look elsewhere. Good Luck out there

Cancellations and delays is what you get with her.. Too busy and too many cancellations.. next date after month.. yikes..

Always seems to busy and I am told she is always in court when I call.(even though I have heard her once yell into the other room to answer a question while I was on the phone with the office staff) Does not respond to emails or phone calls. Office staff "sends messages over" but I do not receive return calls. I had to attend court ordered mediation and wanted to speak with the attorney before mediation to get prepared. I have not received a call back. I called and let the office know that I had mediation the following day and have not heard back as far as helping me "prepare". I was told by the pffice staff that I would receive a call the same day of mediation(which I never received. Outstanding items are not followed up on from opposing party.

She didn't get me anything I wanted in court. she is too busy...constantly.
