My father hired George to create a trust. After paying $2500 for George to create the trust my father moved all his assets into the trust as instructed by George. Several years later my father died and I began dealing with his estate. At that point I asked George to update the trustees on the trust. He created the document for us for $250.
The process of settling my father’s estate was relatively straightforward, I simply had to submit forms for each financial institution with the trust paperwork. At one point I had some questions about how to fill out one of these forms. I asked George for help, fully expecting to pay for the answers. George responded that since we had not retained his services to settle my father’s estate that he was unwilling to provide us with additional services. From his cryptic responses to my requests for help I can only assume that he was upset that we didn’t give him all the work to be done to settle my father’s estate and that he cut us off out of spite.
