I am a former NC law enforcement officer trying to return to sworn service and my experience with Monica Lee through PBA was appalling. My case involved disputed personnel records, a questionable IA, an F-5 affecting hiring and certification, and a shrinking timeline to protect my career. Monica did review my file and contact Training & Standards, but those steps dragged on for months while I repeatedly chased updates, pushed for strategy, and did much of the legwork myself. I organized recordings, emails, policies, evidence and timelines, yet often felt like I was managing my own case. Communication was terrible, follow-through was inconsistent, deadlines kept moving, and I never saw a real plan to fix the problem. When I requested my client file, the timeline shifted again, and when I asked for clarity, I was told, “You do not get to dictate that.” That response summed up my experience. I lost confidence in both Monica and PBA, sought help elsewhere, and would never retain her again.
