I made an account just to rate this man. He needs to be impeached. My ex and I just obtained 50/50 custody, and he refused to what's called "impute" her income appropriately while he imputed mine like crazy based on ludicrous reasoning because he wasn't clear on his initial question. This meant because I have a master's degree in computer information systems, I was being voluntarily underemployed at my current income of $1,360 of the real money I make, and he imputed all the way up to $4166. He also did this retroactively all the support I was paying automatically occuring me a $3,066 arrear balance that I have to pay right way. My ex had her degree for longer (A doctorate in pharmacy), and based on the same logic, he should have imputed her income too at $10,125 a month meaning that she PAYS ME $484 a month. Which is more fair because she does make more than me. He pretty much just ordered my son and I to live in a cardboard box.

Thank you sir! My husband and I were pleased with your rulings and the manner in which you held court. He was able to see through the lies and false accusations stated about my spouse and I and he was able to look out for and consider the best interest of the child in question.

Judge spangler doesnt seem to review the cases and does seem to be prejudice to Moms, treating me like a piece of dirt. He said he believed my ex testimony when i had phone records showing no calls from my ex so it doesnt make sense at all! Kids voices need to be heard more and ignorant bully judges need to be heard less!!

I AM A SINGLE MOTHER OF 1 MY EX HAS TOOK UPON HIS SELF TO NOT ONLY AFFORD A LAWYER AND MAKE DECENT MONEY BUT I AM TO PAY HIM CHILD SUPPORT, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE 50/50. He was the judge in my cases, flawed reasoning behind his final decisions. He does not review his cases properly and he does not use the law in a fair and un-biased way.

I have been in court several times with my ex, but this time with Spangler was the most disturbing. I am a mother of 4 who was a stay at home mom. I went back to college 3 years ago to finish my degree and Spangler just imputed me with 40K a year. My ex who makes 195K was only paying $315 month for two kids for the past three years. I graduated at the end of May and have applied for 10 jobs in 10 weeks (ones I thought I could actually get and didn't even get called for an interview). He berated me! I was applying for jobs "below my ability" I was "not aggressive in job search" and "not actively pursuing employment." If I can't even get one of the jobs he considers below my abilities how the heck am I supposed to find a higher level job? After spending $4700 to get my meager $315 child support updated he only awarded me $1500 in legal fees and gave my well-paid ex 2 years to pay his 5K in back child support. Very sad. He is not in legal system to help support single moms and their kids.

I am APPALLED with the behavior of this "magistrate" in court today, and it isn't even my case. This guy is clearly needing to be removed from the bench, not realizing what it takes in TODAY'S day and age to raise a family as a single mother while dealing with a monster of an ex husband or judge a case fairly. I truly cannot believe a person like this has been appointed to "judge" the current circumstances of cases. Our justice system makes me ill because of people like him. Pathetic.

He is a magistrate, part of an "ole" boys club in Ft.Collins. Ive seen several cases presented to him by different style counsels and he runs his court like a zoo in each case.He has been censured by the state several times and is currently being investigated.His rulings should be taken with a grain of salt as they are in danger of being overturned each time

Spangler removed a child and placed him with his father, who is on probation for domestic violence against the mother.The PRE, Dominique Condevaux being reviewed by DORA for ethical violations.There was insufficient evidence, if any at all, that the child is in imminent emotional harm while living with Mother. The report and testimony of the PRE recommending removal of the child was based on speculation, lack of proper investigation and bias. The PRE ignored Father’s substantial issues while emphasizing irrelevant and illogical issues with Mother, and Mother’s perceived lack of cooperation with the PRE. HE abused his discretion in not allowing the child’s therapist to present evidence about the impact on the child of being removed from Mother’s care, and by placing improper and unwarranted emphasis on the opinion of the PRE. The child’s fears of being “kidnapped” or being taken away from Mother by Father have come true.

Kent Spangler was very one sided, didn't allow me to speak my peace or ask questions. Totally took the side of my ex. I felt like he had his mind made up prior to the hearing. How can it possibly be that someone can make $12,895 per month and the other person makes $2450 per month and have their child support go up? I am baffled and so disappointed in this our so called justice system.

I agree with every one here that he needs to be removed from the bench. He makes up his own rules and makes orders that increase the harm to the child. I encountered him in a DR case and he stopped DHS testimony and ignored their recommendations because it went against his desire to favor the mother. He is a disgrace.

Magistrate Spangler should be removed from his position. He repeatedly blatantly ignores hard evidence, and has no consideration for recommendations from therapists and Child Family Investigators. He has multiple public complaints in regards to his final rulings involving child abuse cases. Most recently, he forced a 15-year old back into the hands of a dangerous parent that has multiple reports of sexual abuse made against him (Spangler disregarded these reports). His overall lack of professionalism in court and his continual ability to make decisions as he does mocks the legal system and is an embarrassment to Larimer County Judicial System. The U.S. legal system was put into place to bring justice to criminals and protect those who are in danger. Magistrate Spangler rewards abusers and FAILS to protect the innocent.

Magistrate Spangler does place to much value on DHS and other professionals that give false evidence before him. It seems Magistrate Spangler is all to happy to promote the use of perjury in his courts. Magistrate Spangler must be one sick person as he used to work as a GAL and must know of the harm he causes children. The only question is why does Chief Judge Stephen Schapanski retain the sick and demented magistrate in his courts.

Misogynistic. Made fun of me in court for using a big word. I suppose he's never encountered a woman who knows how to use big words. Allowed my father's daughter to perjure himself openly while not even looking at evidence. Has his mind made up before he even looks at evidence.

This magistrate is a disgrace. He is very hot-headed, screams in court at parents/grandparents who show up as witnesses, and draws wild conclusions about children based on how parents are getting along based on court (i.e. your child WILL become a delinquent if the parents don't get along...seems like an overreach to me). I have been before him and court and he NEEDS to be removed. I felt victimized after being in court.

Having been before Spangler, I have to say that he does give to much credit to DHS, and does not listen to the evidence. He will side with DHS even when it is obvious that the facts do not support the assessments from DHS. Spangler will not abide by prior rulings of the courts, and will just make up new rules for parent (victims) of DHS. Thus Spangler will place children in danger of more abuse to hide the failures of DHS. He should be removed from his current position, and never considered for advancement.

as a family court magistrate Mr Spangler was intolerant of parents who tried to speak their peace. Yelled in court, short fuse, doesn't listen to all sides. Sides with DHS too much.
