Agree with all reviews below. This person is a shame to legal profession and he is in charge of children's lives. He should be removed from his post of a guardian ad litem because he is pure evil. Corrupt, unethical, shady and unresponsive. He places children with child abusers and predators. I also heard from several people that he takes kick backs.

Art is very disappointing. In three years, I spoke with him once. I walked away thinking – oh no. It was clear he was not neutral, clearly favoring one of few firms still sending him work.
He was focused was when he demanded payment without detailed invoice. I was paying him and paid another $1,000 when he filed illegal bank garnishment - yes, he attempted to garnish payments without judge’s order.
Artwas forced to admit two things on the stand: (i) he did not do anything during the process - no home visit, no time with children and (ii) he lied. Read that again – he admitted on the stand in front of the judge that he lied.
Art would schedule appointments for my children and I would find out about them afterwards. His ‘strategy’ was and is to schedule a forensic psychology review. To be clear, the options in St. Louis are bad and awful. I had to chase him around to finally get that detailed invoice and he spent over 90% of his time coordinating with my ex.

Obviously has some major personale issues. Was distracted by some kind of frivolous lawsuit he filed against Geico and is representing himself on.

Uninformed, showed up to court completely unprepared and got scolded by the judge. Stay far away. Has a dirty office building.

Art was appointed as a Guardian ad litem for my custody case. He was ineffective in analyzing the facts of the case and brought in a counselor from his practice as a second opinion (and more cost to me). The second opinion was that it was not in the children's best interests to spend a longer summer period with their father who moved away years ago. The children gave this same view to Art, expressing interest in a shorter duration for visititation. Instead, Art advocated for the father to have more time in the summers and pushed for mandatory sessions with the counselor in the settlement agreement to help them cope - a conflict of interest benefiting his colleague. Art's recommendation put my children in an unbelievably difficult position, forcing them from home for the majority of their summer because their father refuses to visit them locally. $250/hr is an outrageous sum for a court ordered lawyer who, in my opinion, more represented the father than the children.

Art was Parenting Coordinator for myself and exwife. Favored mom, and did not address dad's issues. assigned fee's based on ability to pay. Lied at our first meeting about the most trivial of things. was defensive and arrogant when addressed on this. his conclusions were slow in coming long on billings, and not decisive, but rather encouraged more investigative work. when offered a choice of PC's, run away from Art Nissenbaum.

He represented a friend of mine's husband in their divorce. My friend saw how good he was and recommended him to me. Unfortunately, my ex got him first, so I ended up in the same situation she was, facing Art. I guess I can never use him now for a legal issue, but I thought he did a great job and I would recommend him. He was kind and respectful. He was not spiteful in the court room. Those cases can be soul-crushing and some of the lawyers seem to get off on demoralizing the soon-2-be exes. I think that Art was different. Embarrassingly at the time, I actually thought he physically appeared similar to my lawyer, so I walked up to him outside the courtroom a couple of times accidentally, smiling and friendly .OOPS.He was friendly enough back that I stayed confused for a minute before I noticed-wrong lawyer. My ex probably thought I was pulling something over on him. I would recommend it-run up to the opposing counsel and SMILE outside settlement conferences! It will confuse them.

This GAL historically always favors mom no matter what the situation. He is unable to make decisions and stand by them and causes simple cases to be drawn out longer than necessary with no regard for running up fees or the child's best interest. This lawyer always serves the mother in the dissolution instead of the child. If he is appointed to your case, ask your attorney to strike him immediately!
