I had never worked with a lawyer before and therefore extended Bob a very generous benefit of the doubt despite a nagging dissatisfaction. He seemed entirely disinterested in my case as soon as the ink on my retainer signature was dry. Four months later, I signed on with a new lawyer and WHAT A DIFFERENCE! She is hard-working and highly attentive. I know she is on top of my case because she communicates with me frequently. She charges far less and works far harder. It seems to me that Bob thinks he can rest on his laurels. I know that I am not alone in feeling enormous amounts of stress as I move through this process. It was important to me to know that my lawyer was well aware of my case as it unfolded. This was not so with Bob. In fact, I ended up scheduling a very expensive face-to-face because in one of his communications, it seemed like he was confusing me with someone else. It was very strange. I'm sure he is busy, but I was paying for quality that I simply did not get.
