Joan was 2 hours late, total disregard for my need to take time off for work.Joan Miller did NOT, from the start of our experience to the end of our experience, respect or honor the mediation process as it is designed to serve both parties involved. My experience with Joan Miller was one that received criticism, scolding, sarcastic laughter, and broken-record statements that sounded like she was reading out of a mediation manual. This surprised me given Joan Miller’s age and my assumption of her “more experienced” status. At one time during this experience I requested, “Joan, may I ask,..why are you laughing at me?” She went into ‘broken-record’ mode and never answered my question. Her legal/bedside manners, if you will, were disturbing and puzzling to say the least. The situation at hand was one of great concern and sensitivity regarding a young child’s best interest. She decides how things should be worked out and when you won't go with what she wants she gets upset with you as the client. Spends more time communicating with the other parties lawyer and billing her client for that than her client and what is going on with the case. She makes all the decisions and than and preceds without asking you what you want.

Mediation was the service and Court Order was for mediation for parents and child. She decided on her own that the child wouldn't be there and only communicated with the asking party. Mediation was a waste of time since another appointment had to be scheduled so order would be followed. Not sure if this was tactic to increase her bill or not but it sure appeared to be the reason for all the deception.
Her mediation style is very poor, doesn’t interject if one party resorts to name calling and degrading. Would never use Joan Miller again. She has no skills in mediation.
