I was referred to Robert Teitelbaum by a friend who went through a divorce but it was her ex husbands lawyer. She advised me he was excellent & today I can agree he is the BEST at what he does. Robert Teitelbaum has a true passion for his job. He has great communication skills, willingness to listen and knowledge of the law. He is direct, prompt, very thorough, tenacious and was always available to answer my questions. He was always prepared, the most detail-oriented, hardworking and persevering lawyer. His strategy is to always get the best settlement for his clients. Robert was excellent is every aspect of my case. If you need a family law lawyer know this…. he’s is the BEST. I was referred to Mr. Teitelbaum at a very tumultuous time in my life. He was patient and compassionate and explained matters of the law in layman terms so that I could better understand my rights. He always made himself available to answer my questions, around the clock. When all you see is deep dark fog around you, there is nothing more reassuring than having someone with a soothing voice, a lending ear, and extensive knowledge of family law to be by your side with your best interest at heart. Robert got more in one month of being on my case that my previous lawyer did in over 6 months. The opposition was hell bent on dragging things out and Robert kept moving everything along. It took 1.5 years to reach a mediated settlement that is fair despite a complicated situation. All the while he was available basically 24/7 to rouse opposing counsel or to explain what was happening, or discuss overall strategy. Yes his hourly rate is high, but he doesn’t bill $60 for a one line email like my previous lawyer did either. Each billable hour was true value in my opinion. His network is also extensive and he will bring in good people if necessary for business evaluation, mediation, or what have you.

I was in need of a lawyer "with bite" as I was getting nowhere with another who was rather passive. Even though I was not married, I had jointly owned real estate that remained subject of debate. When Robert took the case, he took charge, left no stone unturned. They say that sometimes offense is the best defense. Well, Robert is no stranger to that saying. He was the best player to have on my team. We worked together. I live abroad and he was very cooperative working with me remotely. I received responses from him evenings, weekends; whenever the action calls him, he's there. He didn't spare any energy or resources to build a solid defense, came in expertly prepared and negotiated the best settlement I could have obtained. He fought fiercely and obtained results.
This has been the best decision I have made in this separation situation. I got much better sleep knowing Robert was handling things. If I had to this again, I would wholeheartedly make business with Robert. No question.

Robert is a great lawyer. He knows the law inside and out. You have to trust him.
I wasted time with another lawyer and spent months of useless documents going back and forth. Robert doesn't waste time...he knows exactly what to do. He's expensive but he is worth it! He wins his cases !

After years and thousands of dollars waisted on money grabbers, inadequate, irresponsible and I could go on. Mr Teitelbaum was the only Intelligent lawyer that had a business plan. Exactly a Plan, a strategy. Thats a new concept for most that I had the experience with. So B4 you p... your money away give hiim a call PLEASE !!!!

Robert is by far the best attorney on the planet. He is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of family law. He treats his clients with respect and guides them throughout the process. He is always available for a call. I am fortunate to call him a good friend and that even after 16 years since my divorce agreement was signed, he still helps me with any legal questions that arise. I contracted Robert from Australia to battle for the right to stay in my son's life. Two years later when I was granted permanent resident status, he defended my rights for joint custody and won me the right to 50/50 custody. I owe everything to this man and his knowledge of the family law system in Canada. He's thorough, knows when to step up to the plate and when to let it fly by. And as if that's not enough, he's an absolute gentleman as well.

I'm giving Robert all 5's. Why you ask? Is anybody perfect? No, however my 5's are based on a comparative with other top notch family law lawyers that I have worked with. Firstly, we won our case. That alone makes me smile. Mostly, what I liked about working with Robert, was that he was honest with me about everything. My chances of winning, how I needed to manage my demeanor, what research needed to be done and what my case might end up costing me, win or loose. Robert is very strategic in his approach. This style worked for me as I too am that kind of individual. We went in knowing exactly what it was we wanted to accomplish and did not deviate from the plan. Robert Teitlebaum is tenacious, extremely well prepared, with years of experience under his belt, and will never ask a question unless he is sure of the answer. I highly recommend Robert however be prepared for something a little different.

The first meeting I had with Robert I was extremely overwhelmed and stressed since I didn't know what to expect from a divorce. Robert showed empathy while listened very carefully to my story which in return gave me confidence and absolute trust in my lawyer from the very beginning. He is very knowledgeable in his field and you can see that Family Law is his passion. Robert is dedicated to his clients and will work hard lenghty hours and go through all paperwork in great detail in order to win a case! I couldn't have picked a better lawyer...best in Montreal!! Robert took my case even though it was not strong based on the law, but an injustice needed to be righted, and he believed in it. His brilliant argument won, setting a precedent in Quebec family law, and in doing so, gave hope to all parties in who want justice, even when the system is stacked against them. In my experience in the family law field in Montreal, few lawyers are as honest, dedicated and caring as Robert. He is a credit to the profession. I would recommend him without reservation.

I went to Robert in desperation having been told by a few lawyers that I was in a challenging situation. Besides the positive ones, I am also driven to his office by the negative comments in this rating: his Montblanc pen suggests a descent clientele; then knowing what is doable or not and being able to say no to clients are actually true signs of professionalism. Robert handled both slippery court days swiftly and gracefully (the opponent saved the heavier strike last minute in court, on top of other unworthy means). His communications are in time to save all of my stress: I can sleep at night in an otherwise would be very depressive time. His experience and vision brings you to a higher ground of standing in court, obtaining the optimal results for his clients. In terms of payment, he is fair and absolutely worth his rate: he is actually very client oriented in finding the most time-money efficient way to the solution. I am getting him a small gift in Montblanc just to match his pen!

I was the one that left the last review which i posted after the court. I am very dissapointed in Robert Teitelbaums conduct. I gave him a huge deposit which he was to use for his service. Come to find out i got a huuge bill after court which i did not expect at all. He is Mr. nice guy until he sents you a bil.He will suck you dry for your money.

I just went through a divorce and costudy and Robert Teitelbaum did it all within 2 months! he is very fast and efficient you basically tell him what you want and he does it for you. He is also always readily available for any questions and genuinely cares about his clients.. he is expensive $350 an hour everytime you meet him and for court however he does what he says and gets the job done as fast as possible...going through a divorce and custody is probably the hardest thing to go through and he makes it easy by the snap of a finger..i went from zero child support to a lot and got full custody and a divorce within 2 months! I will always go back to Robert Teitelbaum whenever I need a family lawyer he is truly the best!

I was referred to him by a very eminent lawyer as the best family lawyer in Montreal. I cannot agree more. I was discouraged by the comments on this site, particularly, the one about the Mont Blanc pen (now it has become a joke between us). But I am happy that I did not pay attention to these and went to see him. He may seem expensive, but he is extremely sharp and efficient and things that other lawyers do in hours he does in less than an hour. He is also fair and do not take you to court to make money if not needed. This was my case. Although I was ready to go to court he advised that it is better to settle out of court although he made sure that the opponent know that if we do not get what we like we will go to court.
