After speaking with a few different people about attorney recommendations I decided to go with Marlis. Initially she was very receptive to my concerns and assured me everything would be ok, but after meeting with her in person a couple times she basically refused to return my phone calls or e-mails. Each time took between 3-5 days to get a response, and when asked if I needed to do something different to get a quicker response she got very snippy and acted like I didn't matter. Maybe she was overwhelmed or had too many things on her plate, but a return call or message just to let me know what was going on would have been nice. I should have cut ties at that point, but decided we'd already come too far. The worst part is that once we actually went to mediation and were sitting at the table, she literally ignored most of what we'd discussed previously, and seemingly had her own agenda. I expected have the SUPPORT of my attorney (especially as another female) but Marlis was anything but.

My sister used her for a divorce a couple of years ago. We CANNOT recommend her. We too did a majority of the leg work (appraisals, documents from the assessor and follow up) yet she was able to bill my sister for almost $6,0000 for a divorce that had little to no assets. When asked for documentation there were misc letters and phone calls that could never total the amt billed. Also thought she would treat a woman better - no she took advantage of this situation. She definitely has issues with women who speak their mind and push for what they want. BUYER BEWARE!

Marlis worked very hard and got me an even better result than I hoped. She really cared and listened to me. I was scared to go to trial, but when the ruling came in, it was awesome. I can't thank her enough.

Marlis was awesome! Marlis did a great job in court and worked with me to defend the appeal.

If you need a divorce attorney, I would say look elsewhere. She was easily intimidated, manipulated by the other attorney and generally gave poor information. I needed her to speak of child visitation, she opted to discuss property. Once it was determined that she could do me no good and was given the opportunity to resign in lieu of being fired. . . she kept the entire $ 2,000 retainer for doing nothing. I had drafted all the required paper cord and gave it to her electronically to reduce administrative fees. I had thought she would see the side of a woman better by being more sympatric, my bad. . . Definitely, if you are a woman - run the other way. She drummed up charges she gave me which accounted for various phone conversations with my x’s attorney, but no resolutions, with 2,000 dollars in conference calls, you would think something would get resolved. . .right? She generally forgets who she is working for, bad deal if you want to walk away with a shirt, I was forced into
