Everything everyone is saying here happened to me. $15,000 retainer, and never heard from him again after I provided it. Also was billed for an administration fee on top of that, which was not disclosed when I retained them. In under four months two different jr attorneys cycled through my case and I was charged for the time each one took to get up to speed. My initial filing was sent to me for review with another client’s name on it. When I pushed back and refused unnecessary filings, and did not want to “refill” my retainer when it dropped below 5000 they sent me a letter essentially firing me (which did not have my current address on it, but rather my ex-husband’s address). I refused to sign it until they confirmed they would be returning the remainder of my retainer. It’s been three months and I’m still waiting. Bar complaint here we come!

My daughter had to be physically rescued as a literal 'prisoner' due to Kantaras' delays and excuses. He drains clients to keep increasing funds as several lawyers and paralegals churned the case then quit his firm. Our damage's not done with the blatant incompetence we went through for nothing except his frequent staff changes.

Kantaras Law was with me for 2 years. They dragged out the process of divorce. They charged for EVERYTHING! I am a single mother of 3 and had to file bankrupsey. They were at my final judgement hearing after I had to hire another attorney to finish the process, they withdrew from my case. I had paid them an outrageous retainer of $7,500. I paid them an additional 10,000! They charge for every copy and even scans! They took advantage of me and are now trying to still get my alimony payment. Do NOT USE this firm. They have several billboards and can spend their clients money on those with extravagant offices. They will call you once a week for money and email you to harass. They make the divorce process so much harder! Let’s get the word out there about this law firm, please feel free to contact me. This firm wastes too much time and money with intern attorneys and paralegals changing often. My child’s been stuck out of state almost 4 years while he failed to present an overlooked DVI or contact witnesses. This guy’s ego gets in the way while he tries to evade hearings and sends you to an outdated “expert” extorting more money $2500 to write a report he never did. Real witnesses are ignored then you’ll begin again with another assoc attorney assigned and another new bad paralegal

Overall a bad experience. Extremely high priced and little in the way of results. Constant stalling so that the case drags on and the firm can make more money. When I could no longer afford legal fees and requested to stop services, I was told not to worry and that I could “pay them back over time, even if it took ten years” … after which they put a lien on the account. In addition, I received documents that were to be presented to the opposing side that were riddled with grammatical errors. I shouldn’t have to proofread documents for grammatical errors for law school graduates. There are better priced attorneys out there that can get better results. Avoid this firm.

Every negative comment in here is true. I'll be filing with Florida Bar if he's not corrected many errors made with my child being isolated and alienated now. This firm constantly changes staff and bounces you around to different people to stall for more time. They all review file information repeatedly unprofessionally.

I'd wish I saw this site before paying this person $16,000 with NOTHING done! My daughter is stuck out of state since 2017 and this attorney lied on having her back in Florida then took a vacation. He sent me to a "friend" doctor to write a letter but $2500 later no results again-They've threatened to withdraw if I don't allow to be medicated and tell a Judge I'm at fault for what another state's already investigated. I now plan to move out of Florida to correct this atrocity ASAP!

Hired in July 2017, Fired in April 2018 after paying $20,000.00 for a divorce that never happened. I am still married and my life is in limbo. They did nothing to help me, but made lots of promises and billed for reading things multiple times and made sure they always had $5,000.00 in my retainer account at all times so they were always billing me. I don’t know why since nothing ever got accomplished! My attorney actually played on her phone during my mediation, which I was also not told about the charge for so when the mediator brought it up, I’m sure I looked like a deer in headlights, but they could’ve just taken it from the $5,000.00 retainer they already had of my money. They hardly ever returned phone calls and when they did, they just gave you the run around. DO NOT USE THIS FIRM!

We believed in him. Truly had us at go for divorce and custody. The $10,000.00 retainer was gone like water dripping. Never could keep up with his complicated billing. At over $40,000.00 in fees, no divorce only motion after motion. When he knew the money well was getting dried -up and was wanting to set up a payment plan. Kantarias withdrew as our attorney. Making false claims to the court for his reason. Such a disappointment. A heartbreak and more disappointment in attorneys, the courts and the laws. They destroy families while they vacation at the Ritz.

he lied to me 5 times you can never get a call into him his aso p does all work hes on his pc while you are trying to give important info on upcomming court date 4 mo. and 3 meetings total each 15 maby 20 if your lucky he charges fom 20 thousand to 10 thousand does not remember details that super important to your case I have never felt so insecure with a pa there is no concern about your case there is no communication at all winning in court is a toss up even if all the facts are on your side, I just don't know what else to say other than warning others do not hire this lawyer before you pay think about the rateing you have read and check the bar as to how many times hes been reported!!!

I went in for a consultation and will definitely NOT be retaining him. He seemed to be uninterested in listening and asked questions that were without depth. His responses to my questions were drab and shallow. Mr. Kantaras continued to "play" on his computer throughout our meeting - now, whether or not, he was answering emails, looking at football scores or playing Candy Crush - I do not know. What I do know is that he was not paying attention. He then quoted me $5,000 to "get started" and told me to call his paralegal. I am honestly confused about his demeanor as his office is very beautiful and based on his legal qualifications & public notoriety, he seems to have obtained a certain level of success. That had to come from some level of skill and care. Yes? I came in well dressed, well spoken and ready to retain - it's unfortunate that his poor customer service skills, lack of professionalism and apparent disregard for other people's time have superseded his integrity.

I got to his office for our 2:15p appointment & was told to wait. 45 MINUTES LATER, he finally invites me in. I was sitting LESS THAN 30 SECONDS, when he smugly says, "So, what makes someone go from Pro Se to wanting to hire one of the most expensive attorneys in the Bay area? Did you have a sudden change in financial circumstances?" YES, THAT IS A DIRECT QUOTE! Right off the bat, he was rude & arrogant. Within 1 minute of my consultation, he interrupts & answers his cell phone! This happened 2x within the 15 mins that I was in his office! On top of his rudeness & unprofessionalism, he stated that he couldn't take my case because he already had 3 pro bono cases. He then started talking about trying to find other attorneys, then said, "I just can't do it. I already have 4 pro bono cases." My reply, "4? YOU JUST STATED YOU WERE WORKING 3!" Just because I'm poor, doesn't mean I don't have brains! All this pompous jerk cared about was money! He stated it the minute he opened up his mouth!

My spouse hired this attorney to represent him in our divorce. Even though we wanted to try to divide things amicably Kantaras would always try to stir the pot so he could get an argument going so he could bill more money and went against things we agreed on. Look divorce is not easy but instead of helping to resolve issues he likes to delay things & drag them out. Also once he got the retainer he was rarely available & you always had to speak to his assistants and good luck getting a call back from him. What a waste of time he is. I would never recommend this lawyer!!

Once he got my retainer I never got to speak to him again. He gave me his cell number but never answered my calls and his voicemail was always full. I left messages at the office and never received a return call. Only his assistants would talk to me. He had other attorneys cover things in my case without my approval. I was charged over and over for different people doing the same things because my case kept getting switched to different assistants. He impressed me when I met him, but I think it was a bait and switch. I heard the same thing from other clients while in his lobby.

My 3 children were taken from their mother after residing with me in Michigan for over 2 years and are currently residing in the state of Florida with my ex-husband who is a violent individual, thanks to Mr. Kantaras. He also charged me over $700 for his "free consultation" during which he was checking football scores online. He nickeld and dimed me for over $6000. He never returned phone calls, I only spoke to his paralegal, and they dragged their feet on my case for over 2 months when I expressed the urgency of keeping my children safe. I had an associate attorney present with me at a hearing that knew very little about my case and was completely unprepared and because of this the judge was not presented with all the facts and I have retained a new attorney to get my children home. They also breached my client/attorney privlages with a GAL over seeing this case. They take advantage of people in desperate and vulnerable times, and did not look out for my children's best interests.

After reviewing the ratings I can see all my complaints to the Fl Bar are validated even further.I am hoping the Bar takes action against him for his unethical behavior.He does not work in the best interest of the client.In 5 months I only met with him 3 times. All 3 times he was distracted with phone calls etc.He double dipped also. That valuing him at $800 PH. He is not worth the $400 PH. His paralegal runs your case.I have paid for unnecessary filings and time spent over unnecessary issues, all according to him! Lack of communication in house.Yes, facts and intentions are not presented even on request!Cost of MC,Mediation,Trial never discussed or direction case was going in. All billing statements were incorrect. Had to request them in the 1st place!EXP.Billed for free consultaion, over $500.He comes off as very confident and working in your best interest. Not, he takes advantage of one's grief and emotional state.Low profile divorce,he had me up to over $7,000. Hired new Attorney.

I have to agree with other raters-when we had meetings he was always distracted and interrupted by computer,cell phone,etc. Upon arriving at his office for a conference,I learned he'd have to call in to his office where I was to discuss our mediation the next day and he kept calling me by the wrong name! Things I told him over and over he left out of the negotiations-I often showed up for hearings and even my final judgement to learn that another atty from the firm would represent me- I was never informed in advance-at the 3rd and final mediation he sent someone else in his place and showed up when it was almost over- then didn't point out things I missed in the final agreement that were to my detriment. Everything I got was only because I stayed on top of it and then what I missed-well, too bad for me because he wasn't watching out for my welfare or my children's-even now, my ex is misconstruing the agreement and cheating me, but I have no where to turn.Not worth $23,000+ he cost me.

This guy screwed me out of 10,000 dollars. After I told him what I wanted done he advised me that it was going against his wishes and discontinued my case. I also had to file a complant with the flordia bar and after 4 months I got a check for 2,000 dollars from him. This guy did me so wrong

Talk about a man that has no Class, Kantaras thinks that he is above the law, not only did he fail to file in the right county, he demanded money to fix his problem, by the time he did all assets were gone due to his Negligence. and at $300.00 an hour trust me hes not work it. If you are looking for a good attorney look elsewhere as i do believe it wont be long until he is disbarred.

He represented me in my divorce. I thought he did well with it until my ex never did what the court ordered her to do. I had to re-hire him to file the contempt motion and he delayed, dragged his feet and continued to bill me for more fees. I filed a complaint with the Florida Bar and now, because of delays, I have filed bankruptcy. If he would have acted when I re-hired him in November '08, my situation would probably be different.
