I hired Laura Studen to represent me in an employment discrimination case. She was extremely poor at communicating with me and keeping me up to date on the status of my case. I continuously had to chase her to get status. Emails went unanswered. She made agreements with the opposing attorney without keeping me fully in the loop, committing me to sign documents without fully explaining the consequences. I asked her to change and negotiate some of the points of a legal document that she wanted me to sign, and she flatly refused. Also, she was very expensive ($500/hour). Eventually she dropped me as a client, so I negotiated a deal with opposing counsel myself. While her knowledge of the law, her intelligence, and her cross-examination skills are first rate, she seemed more interested in becoming friends with and/or not offending opposing counsel rather than whole-heartedly advocating my position.

Attorney Studen was choosen for her expertise and the case was handed off to a junior attorney which resulted in a inefficiently handled case which cost four times what it should have.
