Just to put it nicely.... Lisa Smyth is a thief and a great liar. No empathy or compassion for human beings. Calls herself a lawyer to take your money and never does the work. Red flag. I asked her for nearly 2 months to serve my 'then husband' with divorce papers. She dragged her feet, she lost the marriage license, she demanded $10K on a days notice.... she did everything but what I hired her for until I got served first, she convinced me to accept the divorce papers, that it didn't really matter WHO files first, biggest mistake that almost cost me my life. I say RUN

Lisa, in my case commingled her fiduciary responsibility to me and her husband.
I had a consultation with Lisa and hired Lisa based on her success representing myself and my family members in the past.
Brad her husband has changed things around and Lisa has changed for the worst. Lisa transferred my case to her husband after I meeting with me and me following up with an email summoning up the reason I hired her to represent me.
Lisa transferred my case to Brad without my consent and Brad her husband asked me to re forward him the emails I sent Lisa It didn’t really make any sense to me and when I asked him repeatedly to to get it from Lisa he said why can’t I do it it will take me only a minute. It must be harder fir him to reach the partner of his firm and his wife! Or they must have had a quarrel that day.
To make a long story short stay away from this husband and wife team unless you want to be taken for the ride of your life, and want to overpay for the ride. I

Run far far away if you get involved with this attorney as your lawyer or GAL. She is a billing machine and all she cares about is your money. I have filed a complaint against her with the GAL Association, the Bar Association and I am even thinking of taking her to court on her deceptive billing practices. You pay a small retainer, as you do with most attorneys, but then without notice you will receive a $13,000 bill a few months later with no explanation. Ms. Smyth, as most attorneys do, will send you a retainer letter and in that letter she states that if she needs to exceed the retainer, she will let you know. I never knew until $13,000 later. I never got a bill, I never got a call. I even talked to her on the phone and asked if her services were going to exceed the retainer. She said no. What ****. As I said, run far away.

Brad and his law partner, Lisa Smyth have represented me since 2003. I have had several cases with Brad since. We had a 4 day trial (which we won) and he has represented me in several commercial matters as well. With excitement, creativity and humor, In my other legal matters, he has always been available for me and my family. In fact both he and Lisa have handled at least three domestic relations matters for my family (I referred them)- all them them had great results although some were very difficult. If I had to describe her, I'd say Lisa is probably my guardian angel. I was referred to her in a rather desperate situation, after the first very bad experience in family court. She got my child and my sanity back, despite my ex husband's nasty attempts to prove I am not a capable parent. When Lisa was unavailable, Steven took over with the same tenacity and success. I would recommend Smyth Law to anyone, especially if children are involved.

Lisa is Awesome! She and her husband make a great team and when you work with Smyth Law you get two of the smartest lawyers in MA discussing your case over dinner and coming up with winning strategies. Lisa & her husband Brad were born to practice law! They both know the law inside and out! Lisa saved my life, giving me back my children, my home equity and my dignity following an undeserved, surprise 209A and divorce. She has a lot of compassion and worked very hard to sucessfully turn things around for me. I was amazed by her patience and strategies. She often put herself in the other attorney's place and predicted their moves, while always looking three moves ahead. She is a wonderful negotiator and never let ego get in her way.
