Hiring Beth was the biggest mistake of my life. I should have fired her after our due process filing was filled with grammatical and spelling errors with inaccurate information, even after I had given her a detailed timeline. Very sloppy work. Tough to reach by phone. Emails are rare. Then her fancy footwork in court got us NOWHERE. Beth is used to getting quick easy settlements. When the school districts changed the game, she was lost. She let our adversary see her sweat and bungled our case badly. We are still trying to recover from it.

terrible experience- BEWARE we could not obtain a single invoice Basically once you pay her the $7500 consider all of it gone. She does not send monthly invoices. She did not follow up with us or opposing attorneys on schedule, if at all. She forgets about deadlines. We received emails from her cursing at us. She had a different version of the law every time we spoke to her and I don't think she really has any idea what she is doing. She forgets about appointments, forget which documents you have given her. You have to keep repeating what you discussed the last time. She threatened to drop our case every time we challenged her or asked too many questions. She has gotten lucky on a couple of cases and so desperate parents are willing to give her these outrageous retainers based on those wins.CONSIDER THESE POOR REVIEWS BEFORE YOU HIRE HER

Beth over promises and under delivers. Never returns phone calls. Acts as if she is certain to get a good outcome on a case, then is unapologetic when she accomplished nothing and clients spend an enormous amount of money. Find another attorney!

Beth was our second special ed atty and Beth Callahan WON our case. She is fierce, tenacious and uber-involved. Is she perfect? No. But are you? Beth custom designed an education program for my child to keep him learning during our case. Expert providers that she referred us to dropped our case because our situation was too difficult: she found us BETTER experts. She fought and WON and the judge delivered more than we asked for - because the case she built around our reported circumstances was THAT good. Beth tested us as clients and it was stressful. But there are always more clients, and my guess is that Beth wanted to know that we were as invested in our case as she was. We got fair and square from Beth. Going to court is expensive. At every stage, we asked how much we could expect to pay for the next step, and she was honest. When we were in crisis, Beth and Dawn were more than there for us. I have recommended her to others and will continue to do so.

I agree with all the ratings stated with the exception of the one that said Beth was the best special education attorney out there. We fired her in less than 3 months. She would tell us that she had connections with schools we were interested in, mention that there was an opening, get our hopes up and then when we would ask her again act like she didn't know what we were talking about. She gave us direction to take our child out of district and place him in an "interim" school. She bragged to us that all the kids in this school were "her" kids. When I disagreed with something she said, Beth got very agitated and defensive. I mentioned the coincidence of her working with these kids in this "interim" school and she accused me of saying she was "sleeping" with the director. LOL, stupid little troll! She is completely unethical, unprofessional lawyer and would NEVER recommend her to anyone. My only regret is that I didn't read the reviews before we hired her. Waste of time and money!

Beth Callahan demanded a $7,500 retainer for our child's case. She promised what she could never deliver and played on my fears as a concerned parent. I fired her after two months. I am taking her to fee arbitration. And as for helping my child, I worked directly with the school district and obtained satisfactory results. I was a far better advocate.

The previous ratings for this attorney are completely the opposite of our experience with this lawyer. She worked so hard for us and our child and did an amazing job with our lawsuit, of which thanks to her--we won overwhelming. She has an amazing knowledge of special education law that well surpasses any other attorney in NJ. She is a very busy, in-demand attorney so she prioritizes her time on her cases that are currently in court or need immediate attention. Her co-attorney Dawn Pepin is extremely helpful as well and is always there to answer questions. Ms. Callahan is personally invested with every client she works with and is extremely dedicated to helping kids with special needs. She never gave up on our case even though there were times when we wanted to. We don't know what we would've done without her as she truly is the best Special Education Attorney out there.

Completely misrepresented her ability to obtain support for our child's special needs at school. She required a $5k retainer upfront and, a year later, we have never received an invoice from her and she has yet to return our retainer. Based on our experience, she misrepresented her ability to obtain State/District aid for our child's educational support, displayed gross neglect of her client's matter, failed to keep her client reasonable informed and failed to communicate fees on a timley basis. If you have had a simliar experience with Beth Callahan, you have a legal right to contact the NJ Office of Attorney Ethics: http://www.judiciary.state.nj.us/oae/...

As soon as she received my retainer fee she disappeared. Did not return phone calls! I spoke more to her paralegal Dawn than I spoke to the actual attorney. When I did speak to her she spoke down to me in a shrill tone of voice. She would interrupt me when I would speak to her and when I would not let her bulldoze the conversation she would yell loudly. Very unprofessional. Would NEVER EVER use her again. Two coworkers of mine wanted a referral to an attorney for their special needs children and I told them I would not recommend her.

Very short when she speaks with you, does not let you speak. She acts like she cares but does not listen to you, thats if you can even get a hold of her. I felt like she charged for every little thing and after you would hang up she never answered the question you were calling about. Very, very stressful to deal with!!

Undeniably the most unprofessional person I ever met in my life. It's quite hilarious how she attempts to intimidate by yelling and trying to belittle people which she does when she is intimidated. I am still laughing at this woman's behavior! She looks and acts like a raging beast. I had a hard time taking her seriously.

Ms Callahan was the most unprofessional and unorganied person I ever worked with. You have a better chance of seeing Big Foot, before you will ever win a case with her.
