If you are assigned Doug Mayer ask for a new Lawyer!! He will not communicate with you, will move forward on his own without your input, miss important dates, blame everyone else, and give your totally wrong advice taking the easiest possible route for himself.

waste your money and still start afresh. He works for legal aid and if he accepts your file, please challenge it right away and have legal aid change him immediately. He just wants money from legal aid and does not know what he is doing. If there was a rating worse than bad, he deserves it and more. In a just society, this man should NEVER have been allowed to work for legal aid. Serious lawyers don’t work for legal aid anyways, because legal aid pays them about 60% less than what regular lawyers charge. This man ruins people lives. Unfortunately, most people in legal aid are vulnerable and disadvantaged and this is what they get.

I used this lawyer a long time ago, in the early 2000's. He didn't return phone calls, emails, very hard to track down. Didn't have an assistant either. When I just showed up at his office, another lawyer's assistant said, "I hear that ALL THE TIME," when I said he just won't return my calls. I'm shocked he's still in business. Not shocked by the horrible reviews. He was referred to me by another lawyer, that part shocks me. My ex just walked away and everything was awarded to me by default. But if he hadn't just run away, I doubt there would have been an outcome for years.

Words can not express what a total buffoon this person is. I was dragged through a divorce for over 2 years by this clown when it should have been no more than 5 or 6 months. Does not respond to emails, phone calls or letters. I found out about my divorce being granted 6 weeks before he even informed me. Check out the QB Court Registry and you'll see why you should stay as far away as possible from this idiot. Payback was sweet though as I took 3 years to pay my Lawyer bill! He was also disciplined by the Law Society so Google his name for more info about that. Just not a good person who takes advantage of the vulnerable. I could go on and on but I think you now have enough info to make an informed decision to stay clear of Mr. Mayer

If there was a 0 he would get it in all categories. I am so disgusted with him. He doesn't return phone calls for weeks. When he does he has no further answers than what he did a year prior. Very disorganized and not friendly at all. Keeps a case draging on for years just to get your money. He charged me an absolute fortune for doing nothing. I had to do all the work and call him with information. Then for a 2 minute call he charges me a half hour each time. I wouldn't recommend this idiot to anyone.

He never emails or calls u back, he was suppose to write up documents that was suppose to take 1 day. My divorce is still going on and my ex and I are in agreement on everything. It has been 2 years. It is due to him it is taking forever. Will be reporting him.

He does make you sit in his office while he types out what you say.Weird I explained as far as child support I would like my ex to pay a large day care billed owed first in payments and then start child support payments afterwards to make it fair for the ex. Mayer got it that he paid the day care but no child support. I did email him at his hotmail account and told him he was just causing more problems and creating tensions and no wonder people ended up hating one another after going through the legal system. I told him something in confidentiality and he put it in the papers anyway when I protested and asked him not to. He said something like he was the one who made the decisions. This was a few years ago. I ended up emailing him and telling him that it was okay I didn't get child support. I would not recommend him to others, seriously.

Waste of your $$$. Took his legal fees for review before Judge, they both agreed it is ok to to spend money with no results...well judges were lawyers too at one time. Never again. At least I challenged the system.

Added more stress in my life at a very difficult time. He did not return phone calls or e-mails, lost papers, and was not the least bit friendly. I decided to use a different lawyer months into my divorce because I did not have ANY confidence in him. I would NOT recommend this lawyer to anyone!!!

I have had the misfortune of dealing with this lawyer over a clourse of several years now, which should indicated te speed in which he gets things done. When you receive messages that contain...it sounds like, or I think it might, and not backed by any legal standing, it does not build confidence. When the client has to prvide him papers, that he has sent to you, and he claims he has no copies of them, or does not have them in his file. It should send red flags up everywhere. Comments like give your head a shake woman, when given factual information, along with documentation, not only should he not be practicing law, but not working with people at all. It has taken 10 years SO FAR to complete something that shoudl have takne a few months at the very most.

takes months to return phone calls or emails. Holds information for months before contacting me (in regards to child support) then makes me re-apply for legal aid claiming a "new case" due to a time lapse, even though he has had information all along. He types with 2 fingers, has a very messy desk/office. and has a hard time finding info sheets for clients due to this mess. I was refferred to this laywer by a friend, who is also very dissapointed with his services. I would never recommend this lawyer to anyone, ever. Very unprofessional. Very dissapointed.

If there was a zero rating I would have used it. In one word "*&%#@" too bad I can't use prophanity. All about money, argued nothing in court, had no defence against any accusations, never returned any calls, did not prep us before we went on the stand, did not brief after the trial, and when asked to explain the lawyer jargin that was sent to us in the mail by the court, he said "just read it". Our case was simple and straight forward, and he lost it... Don't hire this guy for anything, not even to clean your toilet, he'd probably screw that up too.

He doesn't return phone calls, stumbles his way through court proceedings. Refuses to prepare for court properly, (leaves everything to the last possible moment). Does not concern himself with pertinent information. Anything else I have to say would not be flattering.
