I hired Mike Ward 2 handle my divorce & found him knowledgeable, but his billing wasn’t sound. His contract states he will send monthly bills.I only received 1 after repeated phone calls & emails.My husband & I reconciled. I asked 4 the remainder of my retainer.He ignored this request.I hired another lawyer 2 have my retainer returned, but Ward ignored his request.I filed a complaint with the VA Bar.The Bar sent an Investigator 2 interview Ward & review his files.It took 2 visits b4 he provided 2 bills which had not been shared w/me.Ward claimed he couldn’t send them because he didn’t have my contact info.Untrue because he had sent me other info.My email & phone were on the contract he created.We had been communicating via email.He could have sent me the info this way.The bills given the Investigator were block billing-lumping several tasks together2 come up with 1#. This isn't an approp billing method 4 legal services. I had never seen these bills, I was unable 2 question them.

NEVER USE THIS LAWYER. All of the above comments. Uncommunicative, goes to trial unprepared. Failed to transmit settlement proposal that I requested, and as a result am facing trial for contempt. Failed to respond to discovery and cost $2k sanction. Failed to file a modification order as rquested, now it cannot be addressed. You are better off with no attorney at all than workng with Mike Ward.

I have had the same problems with this lawyer and have also fired him. When I requested a reurn of unused money, he provided a falsified bill showing he used up all the money.

DO NOT hire this guy. He never returns emails or voice messages and never really did anything to help me. He gave me advice and then later blamed me for what I did. He has the personality of a rock and the integrity of a serial****. I fired him and requested a final transcript along with my retainer balance 3 months ago and STILL have not received it despite a dozen emails to him. BEWARE of this slime bag!!!

I agree with the first comment, this lawyer will not update you even if you send repetitive inquiry through email and phone calls. He will only return your call in the beginning encouraging you to get his service but after that, you always need to get hold of him to get an update.
