She was a court appointed attorney, my children’s guardian Leitem, so obviously everybody’s getting kickbacks $ here. I’m a victim of domestic violence, and my children were abused by my ex-husband as well. My ex happens to be a lawyer as well.. she was influenced already and had prior conversations with my ex that is unethical and unprofessional. She refused to see my evidence of the history of violence. She didn’t care if my children were in harms way with their abuser. She is most unethical despicable embarrassment to the legal society, and should be disbarred immediately. She has mentally now destroyed my children and my life. SHAME ON YOU NEW YORK COURTS for condoning a person like this! She told my therapist with a PhD to shut up in court appearance. Who allow this behavior in court.. oh yes.. New York

Karyn was listed as a lawyer on my Unions sight. She was supposed to help teachers, especially women. She took my money and repeatedly ingnored what the judge requested her to do. She was hired to write a dismissal to a petition my ex husband served me with to take custoeday of my child. She never had the petition ready and would not go to court in person like the judge requested. She kept telling me that she would deal with it if the court had a problem. It took about 3 court dates of her saying this and then billing me for the entire day while I waited for a court phone conference that I was never called for before she even wrote the dismissal. Because I questioned her she gave my ex's lawyer all of my information before she gave it to me or presented it to the court. By the time I got to speak to the judge she requested to be dismissed and after paying her and wasting precious time I was told I had to start over and find a new lawyer, which of course I would have to pay agai

Karyn is an outstanding matrimonial attorney. She was instrumental in getting me a fair and just outcome; not an easy task in a system that tends to give men the raw end of the deal. Karyn's knowledge, intelligence, and tenacity set her apart from her peers. She is outstanding in both negotiations and in the courtroom. Her billing practices are more than fair and she is cognizant to spend your money wisely to get the most out of your legal fees. Most importantly, Karyn places the needs of children involved above all else. She was instrumental in saving my family and allowed me to move on in a much happier place. Let me start by saying Karyn charges you $400/hr even if she doesn't spend the hour with you. She will have other cases and still charge you for each hour or she may not have any cases and just sit some place else but it won't be with you so expect that. Second I want to warn everyone that if you do not have custody of your children and they are doing well in school don't waste your time trying to get justice in Suffolk courts even if your ex is violating the order it doesn't matter nothing will be done. As far as Karyn I sat with her about my ex violating the court order and she tells me we have enough to go to court. She files in family court and my petition is thrown out(allegedly) so she files in Supreme Court. I waited 2 years for a court date. By then some of my evidence was to old for anyone to even care. Karyn shows up to court completely unprepared and didn't even prep me for court. I wish I could post my transcripts here. I am out of space or i would write more.

Choosing Karyn Villar was the best decision I made when it came to hiring a divorce lawyer. Her knowledge and professionalism was outstanding and I highly recommend her. Karyn Villar is an attorney that has given me everything I have asked for. She will not back down from anyone. She is an incredible fighter in the court room. She has proven to me if you want a winner Karyn is the person you want on your side. Thank to Karyn I have custody of my children even though my ex has appeal 4 times, we have always achieved what we when in the court for. Paper work in never delayed and always in contact to let me know what was going on.

Mrs. Villar is the best lawyer I have come across to handle my divorce with professionalism and ease. I met with several before deciding on Mrs. Villar because she made me feel comfortable and showed how experienced she is. Mrs. Villar knows the law very well. Karyn handled a very complex and long divorce and custody matter for me ... she was extremely knowledgeable, answered all my questions, and always returned calls. I switched to Karyn Villar after a year with a previous attorney. I think Karyn is exceptionally knowledgeable, did not provide me with false hope and wanted what was best for my child not just me. She indicated from the very beginning a child having a great relationship with both parents is crucial for their development and emotional stability. Karyn was intelligent and professional in the courtroom. A divorce trial with a child involved is extremely scary and nerve racking. In my worst moments, Karyn was not only professional, but supportive as well.

This firm not only specializes in representing abusers, Karyn has a team of available bogus "experts", including law guardians and fake therapists who will do her evil bidding. She lies so much she contradicts her self over & over again in her own papers, but the courts show unending and unexplicable patience for her. if you are up against her DO NOT allow her to have any say in appointing a law guardian, therapist or forensic psyhc. Make sure you know EVERY conversation she has had with your lawyer & any third party involved and DO NOT allow conferences that you are not privy to be a party of. When I say she lies you have no idea what is going to come out of her mouth- so you need to be prepared & your lawyer needs to be prepared to defend the most ridiculous of things- dont forget the Law guardian, therapist and forensic psychologist will back her up- they are getting paid well to. If you have been a victim of this scam, please FILE GRIEVANCES!

My attorney is dorthy courten of this firm and villars partner. I read the reviews here and im perplexed. to sit here and tell you that this firm and these attorneys are the best at what they do is an understatement. I have alot of experience with lawyers and will say these attorneys are professional, knowledgeable, ethical and honest. Dorthy courten, k villar and scott fillisitti have all been involved in my case. they never promised me anything but to fight for my rights as a father. They not only got me full custody but dorothy has coached and been a great support for me thru this trying time. if your reading these reviews keep this in mind...most people posting here are in a very emotional time in their life and unfortnately if they have lost custody are looking for someone to blame...and that usually is tht attorneys. while at this point i have custody even if i lost it i can say 100% this firm told the truth, fought hard w facts, and gave 125% to protect my rights as a parent.

All about the money! Do yourself a favor, stay away from this firm. My wish is for Ms. Villar to go through a horrible divorce herself. She drags a case on forever to bill you and cannot return a phone call out of courtesy.

TERRIBLE LITIGATOR, ALLOWS JUDGE TO RUN TRIAL, FAILURE TO RAISE OBJECTIONS ON BEHALF OF CLIENT.RELIES HEAVILY ON REPUTATION OF PARTNER WHOSE WORK QUALITY HAS ERODED HORRIBLY.POOR FOLLOW UP AND REMISS IN RETURNING CLIENT PHONE CALLS.
