Gail Berkowitz is tenacious and she is responsive to calls/emails. That is where her legal abilities end, in my opinion. There are lots of decent/good/great attorneys in the Kansas City area. At $300+ an hour, Gail falls well short compared to the competition. I rarely write reviews, but I feel like Gail provided me such inadequate counsel......I decided to write a review.

I give Gail Berkowitz my highest recommendation! I had a complicated divorce with 3 businesses and a shrewd spouse with a former judge in the county as opposing council. I filed the first week of January 2017. I worked with one attorney who wasn't bad but whom I worried wasn't a match for the other attorney. After 6 months of no progress, I asked some of KCs top executives who the best divorce attorneys were. They gave me 2 names, one of which was Gail Berkowitz. I mistakenly hired the other one. After 8 months and an extreme amount of money and no progress, I hired Gail. She and the team she put together for me (Arielle Spiridigliozzi & Sonya Roach) did more for me and my case in one weekend than the other two had done in 14 months. In 2.5 months my divorce was complete and I had saved $150,000 from the best option the last attorney had presented. I really can't say enough. If I were starting again today, I would not even consider using anyone else.

I found Gail and her staff to be caring and professional. I immediately felt like I was in good hands. They listened to me and took the time to understand a complicated situation that involved legal issues and immigration issues. They kept in constant touch with me from start to finish. A friend of mine suggested Gail to me and I am very happy that I took my friend's advice. Gail took great care of me.

When I think of how to describe Gail Berkowitz, these words come to mind: Intelligent, Connected, Focused, Tenacious, Composed, Accessible. My divorce involved complex real estate issues, a business buy-out, and some uncommon legal disputes. It was clear that it would not be easy to settle and I needed the very best attorney. Asking around, Gail's name came up repeatedly. When you meet with Gail, it is immediately clear that she has an excellent understanding of the law. Whenever I worried or took my eye off of the important issues, Gail was there to help me refocus. She is well-known and respected by her peers, the judicial system, and the local business community. I truly believe that she cared about me as a person. Gail exceeded my expectations, and I am so grateful to have found her. She's the best of the best!

If you are looking for a team that is compassionate, supportive, determined and professional than you want Gail Berkowitz and Erika Driskell to represent you. My divorce journey was personally hard. I needed guidance and someone who was not only efficient but completely dedicated in resolving my case. Every step along the way, the status of my case was communicated to me in a timely manner. They listened to my needs and were attentive to the details. The firm works as a team for their clients and they are extremely prepared and knowledgeable. They go above and beyond in emails calls, etc... This experience was life changing and they helped me through this journey. It will always be remembered!!! Words could never fully describe how amazing Gail Berkowitz is as an attorney. Her level of intelligence, competency and proactive approach surpassed my expectations immensely. I am an established physician and had been told by other attorneys that tens of thousands of dollars would imminently be awarded to my now ex-husband. He himself is an attorney and left me after he graduated from law school!! A dear friend suggested Gail to me and the rest is history...wonderful history!!! I am now divorced and self-fulfilled. I was awarded even more parenting time with my children and my ex-husband got just what he deserved...nothing. It's seldom you meet someone who relentlessly is in your corner. Someone who is greeted with immense respect from fellow attorneys when she enters a courtroom. Don't waste time guessing!! Gail Berkowitz is the BEST at what she does. No contest.

She really has no interest in amicable situations.......dragging things out = more money for her.....she took a fairly amicable situation and has now created a situation where I won't even look at or acknowledge my ex.....and vice versa. Other attorneys and family counselors involved rolled their eyes when they knew Gail was involved. I can't think of someone I would be less likely to use in the future.

Gail in my opinion, is a very good, aggressive lawyer....if your having trouble with your lawyer, as I did, Gail came in and turned everything around.My only complaint, she made a mistake on some items, said she would fix the problem at no cost to me, and after the items were fixed, she billed me for her time, which I called her on....she didn't like it but stuck to her word and removed thoes hours billed.....would hire her again in a moment

My divorce settlement went on over a year longer than we thought. Gail never once billed me during that time. I am eternally grateful for not only her excellent service but also her high ethical standards. I would not hesitate to recommend her!!

I did not know Gail Berkowitz before I hired her but it was the best decision that I made. She is a great attorney. She always had my best interest in her mind and she took the high road through out the divorce and always encouraged me to do so. Gail was kind and hard working. She and her entire office are excellent communicators. They reviewed each document with me and involved me in decisions and strategy. She even stayed in touch while she took a few vacation days. Gail was keenly interested in protecting my assets and getting the divorce over as soon as possible so that I could go on with my life. I thought she and her paralegal provided great service and excellent advice. This was a very hard time in my life and I can not imagine working with a better attorney or a better person. I thought Gail's fees were reasonable and I would highly recommend her to anyone going through a divorce.

Gail is the best! She does an excellent job of protecting you and fighting for what you deserve. Nothing in this process is fair. It is war. When you go to war you need Gail. Gail is always prepared and detailed. If you are unreasonable she will let you know that. She does a great job of setting your expectations. My intentions I originally shared w/GBerkowitz was not hurt or be aggressive to my ex husband. Repeating this several times I discovered the emotionless GB had toward my request. The permanent damage to my ex-husband was more than I had planned and sadly my kids turned on me seeing damage emotionally to my EX. My kids blamed that it was all my fault. This was not what I had planned being awarded custody was my goal. Two of my three kids have developed a hatred for me that I never say coming or ask for. With that said and looking back I must say that this was a bad experience and losing my kids in a way that will haunt me forever. For me personally I learned a lesson to beware what you ask for and realize that others ( my two kids) will have their own personal opinion. I wish I never took other's advice, what I should of done was to ask my kids and their position ahead of time of "what if's". Giving my marriage another chance would of kept my kids and not lose them. GB got her $'s

Like the other review said, not interested in her client only her pocketbook. Horrible communication (non-existent). Either unknowledgable or did not care to protect her client. Failed to follow up on information provided to her. Was not prepared for court/trial and tried to throw everything together at the last minute. Due to her procrastination I feel she strongly advised us to settle for things that were definately NOT in our best interest because she was not prepared to represent us in trial that day. I also felt that she did not put forth the effort to negotiate on my behalf. Had we worked with a differenet lawyer I'm certain things would have turned out more favorable on our end. She charged in excess of $50,000 for doing nothing but giving poor representation which I am continuing to pay for and am still trying to correct.

Impossible to get by switchboard. Overrated, just after money. Friend used & got good service by spending huge amount 175K. Mine only 50K did'nt hold her interest. Good when wants to be otherwise forget it. Happy w/ new atty

This is my ex-wife's laywer. She got 97% of my stuff and her maintenance is 110% of my income. Excellent work if you can get it.
