Look at reviews 2007, 2011, 2013. Years apart, same story. Her M.O. is to drag it out as long as possible as it creates more money. Always offering mediation but gets to the table and talks about topics that are irrelevant. Running the clock. Settlement offers will sit for months. You have to file court hearings to get her attention and make her respond. Any lawyer in town will say she is slow. The longer a divorce case lingers, the more continously and costly it becomes. Find a lawyer that seek a fair but timely resolution. Not one that drags it out for their pocket.

Carol has represented me twice is the past (child custody and a misdemeanor charge from the new spouse of my ex), both times with very favorable outcomes. Other reviewers complain about not knowing her strategy but so much of this COMES from knowing about the other lawyers and the judges. Also, unless you are prepared to pay for her time 24/7, you have to allow her time to attend to her other clients - she DOES update you when there are significant events. I am in my 3rd legal engagement with her (as the dad, and I see no bias towards moms), and we are approaching what I believe will be our 3rd positive outcome. If you realize first that the legal system is over-crowded, over-worked, disorganized, and illogical at times, you can't blame Carol for that - she does a fantastic job of getting very reasonable outcomes out of a very unreasonable system. I would and will use her again - and that, for me, is the only endorsement that really matters.

Carol represented my husband on his 2nd DUI in 3 yrs. He did serve any jail time, only community service and attend the normal classes. She made herself available to us at anytime, unless she was in court. We couldn't be more happy with ending result. I do highly recommend her to friend and family.

I engaged Ms. Breit to defend me on a DUI. She pursued my business and gave me all kinds of assurances that she was a professional and would do a professional job. Carroll was perhaps the worst communicator I have ever dealt with in a business relationship. She rarely if ever returned calls and on the off chance that she did return a call, it was DAYS later. She did not keep me informed on the status of my case or the approach she planned to take. She was always in a hurry. On my first court date, I had no idea what her plan was. She assured me she would meet with me immediately prior to the trial, yet she showed up late and we never met. Ultimately, she did absolutely nothing other than suggest that I plead no contest. I could have done that on my own. I believe the only thing she has to offer is being married to a judge. She is NOT what I consider a defense attorney. She is more concerned with her relationship with the prosecution than getting a good result for her client

It is my belief that Ms. Breit is more effective handling a female client. I think she actually had sympathy for my adulterous, now ex-wife. At her urging, I wasted money on a PI whose testimony was never required as we wound up going irreconciable differences on the final decree. I wanted my divorce to say adultery and whenever I asked the cost of going to court to achieve this, never got a straight answer. In the end, an error on her part for the marital separation agreement cost something that should never have been. Additionally, calls and emails were made, rarely returned. She as a divorce lawyer, should protect a clients business positions and she has little financial knowledge. Ex-wife violated the Pendente Lite and Decree numerous times and not one Show Cause was ever filed. It was a nightmare and an expensive one at that...My ears perk up when a lawyer says their a "practical lawyer," whatever that means...

It's going on three years since she took my divorce case and $8,500.00 later, I am still not divorced and I have nothing to show for the cost. She drags her feet on everything, doesn't give me clear answers, doesn't return my phone calls or e-mails or when she does, it's not in a timely manner and she doesn't give me any explanations on things unless I get ugly with her in an email and even then it's lot's of double talk and no real helpful information. I definately would not recommend her to anyone or if you do hire her, you better make sure you have lots of money to flash in front of her face because I think that is a big motivator for her.
