Mr Klassen is a true professional, compassionate and very knowledgeable. He offered great advice, support, made himself available to answer any questions and helped me feel calm as he logically explained options and next steps. Separation is stressful and overwhelming. It was a pleasure to have Robert as my lawyer to assist with my divorce and separation agreement. He made a difficult and complicated process seem so easy. Despite needing to be away for work for lengthy periods of time, he was able to complete everything on time and kept my file proceeding ahead as quickly as possible. He suggested unique and very helpful ways of dealing with my situation to help the overall outcome and reduce associated costs. All meetings were pleasant and peaceful, and the way in which he conducts business reduces stress. Despite the ongoing pandemic, he was still able to obtain my divorce certificate on the first day in which the courts were open. After consulting with a number of other lawyers who were all heavy-handed, I selected Mr. Klassen due to his collaborative approach and calm demeanour. Don't confuse those mild manners for a push-over, though. When things got tense, Robert delivered. His patience, advice and excellent communication made all the difference in helping me reach an acceptable separation agreement. I can wholeheartedly recommend Robert Klassen. The end of a relationship is devastating, Robert was able to soften the blow and make the process bearable. We disagreed at times in the process but always had my best interest in mind. It was frustrating as to how long it took to complete but people do have lives. This is not a quick process, if you want it done properly it takes time. I would rather every I was dotted and T was crossed than quickly rush through this process and realized something was missed. In the end all my concerns were addressed and I have moved on. I would recommend Robert to anyone that wants a knowledgeable and kind soul for a collaborative lawyer.

I engaged Robert for his expertise in collaborative family law. Nice guy, but cannot deliver especially when things become anything more than mildly contentious. If you don't mind spending money, waiting for Robert to finish his many trips, poor communication, and limited response, then Robert is for you. Regrettably I was looking for some results, and finally after months of nothing had to seek other assistance. Total waste of time and money, although I guess I'm happy for Robert that my money paid for his many trips. I don't normally ever write such reviews, and I regret having to do so, but unfortunately as the worst experience I've had for a very long time, I felt compelled in this case. My advise to anyone -- go elsewhere unless you absolutely 100% know that your circumstances are going to be straight forward (even then, think hard).

I was in a bad place and thought Robert came across really well in my consultation. Then came the time to actually work on my case and all I heard was how busy he was and how great he was. when it came to the first meeting to see what if both parties could be reasonable I tired very hard and the last straw was when he let the other lawyer talk over me. It was my turn to speak and the lawyer kept interrupting me. I would recommend Robert if the other party is reasonable but if your ex has gone off the deep end Robert will not be effective for you. on top of that I fired him more than a week ago and he has not returned my retainer.

Passive and dishonest. I felt he had more genuine sympathy for my ex husband than myself given his personal experience with divorce. Waste of time and money and I felt he was in cahoots with my ex's lawyer. He dragged out the process not really putting my wishes forward. Ended up costing me over $7000 with no results. Interestingly, it was about the same cost for him to go on vacation to Africa for a month. He said that doing the collaborative process and using child specialists would be beneficial in court, but it wasn't even looked over. He tried to scare me with the expenses of court and the likely hood of not winning my case. Well court did work out for me. When I did decide on the court root, he told me that I would change my mind on my demands, which he admitted he did not take my demands seriously and was never on my side. When I told my second lawyer what he said to me, she was shocked. Not sure why he is considered a top lawyer. Maybe only to male clients.

I was in a situation that was very stressful as I was paying extreme spousal payments that had a no-end date. I went to 3 lawyers previous to try and change the binding agreement and all 3 told me I was wasting my time and theirs due to it being a binding contract. Robert immediately read the agreement and found loop holes and assured me that I had a chance but it would take some work. It took almost 5 months but I can now say that I am clear of spousal payments for good and have a new agreement which has allowed me to plan a positive future ahead. The fee was minimal compared to other firms. I would highly recommend Mr.Klassen and his staff.

Robert was professional and extremely helpful in a tough case with FMEP (Family Maintenance Enforcement Program) and my husband's ex-wife. He suggested offering a settlement which was accepted and saved us going to court which would have been very costly. Through mediation he helped my husband and his ex wife move toward an agreed settlement which was both difficult and emotional. My husband was very impressed at how Robert handled strong emotions during the meetings. He calmly and gracefully listened but kept things on track and made helpful suggestions, always moving towards the goal of settlement. Although I had to stay out of the proceedings, Robert always updated both my husband and myself. We are so very thankful to Robert for assisting us with this so we can move ahead in our new life together. He has over 30 years experience in family law and can save costly litigation by offering mediation instead. I highly recommend him!
