When I was faced with false allegations of child neglect, I couldn’t understand how that was even possible. I was so shocked that these false allegations were supported by DCF. It turned my world upside down….I found Attorney Kevin Seaver by searching DCF lawyers and I am beyond grateful. I saw all the wonderful reviews. When I called his office I spoke directly with him and I knew he would advocate for me and my family. He did just that and more, he gave me his personal cell number, he was present for all the DCF home visits as well. Attorney Seaver was professional, sincere and sets a new standard of excellence. When the news of an investigation came, and upon learning of the seriousness of this, life came to a halt as well as many sleepless nights when learning that the most precious gifts in my life, my grandchildren, were in jeopardy. Unfortunately, I had to call Attorney Kevin Seaver due to retaliation of a tenant at a scattered site shelter I was placed in. She left drug paraphernalia in our shared bathroom where my 4 and 6 year old found it. After being reported by myself, along with the backing of the first floor tenant and next door neighbors, who had also witnessed her intoxicated behavior, she called DCF on each of our families. It was pure retaliation however we all now have to go through the process of DCF investigation. With all that said, Attorney Weaver gave me a free consultation. He asked very detailed questions to better suit my families needs; Covered DCF processes and stayed in touch even after knowing that because I lived in a shelter, I couldn't afford representation. His heart for what he does outweighs his knowledge, and by our conversation, it's pretty impressive. Thank you Mr. Weaver for who you are, not just what you do! My daughter had some health problems at age 6-7 years old. We took her to her primary care MD as well as specialist and had different testing done. The Doctors notes and diagnosis copies were given to her elementary school. Instead of caring or being supportive of her and our family, they the school reported us to the department of children and families. (DCF). They alleged that I was neglectful for the days at school that she missed. DCF never reviewed our notes or medical paperwork. When we came to Attorney Seaver our family faced a frightening situation. A groundless allegation had been made about my parenting by a "mandated reporter" to the DCF. I feared losing custody of my child, losing my job if the allegation was supported, and our reputation in the community which would emotionally impact our child. Early on we did not even know what the allegations were. I was an aspiring paralegal looking for hands-on experience in the field.
Being Attorney Seaver's intern was a valuable experience. Look no further if you want to learn and assist the expert in Family law with a specialty on DCF law.
I was actively involved with attending several Court hearings, Administrative Fair Hearings and visits to client homes with him. I helped with drafting, editing and completing written briefs, complaints, motions and letters.
He taught me how to analyze dozens of DCF reports, investigations and assessments.

Attorney Seaver is extremely experienced and professional in handling issues with the Department of Children and Families (DCF). Due to the large variation in the degree of conscientiousness and work ethics of their social workers, the ultimate goal of DCF to protect children and families is not always guaranteed and it is not uncommonly found that conclusions reached by their social workers, though being approved by their supervisors, are untenable. Kevin didn't listen to a word I said. He spoke over me and hollered at me. He went to a DCF meeting and it was quickly apparent that he didn't know anything about my case. I also was not informed of an impending court date and when I found out and called him, he quit the day before court and said, read the fine print! I don't do court appearances! Not lgbtqi friendly.

Kevin seaver was useless. Didnt listen to a word I said and did not even listen to details of the case. Made us go all the way down to his office just to say nothing. All the words that came out of his mouth was, "do you know how mich I cost an hour"! What a stereotypical jerk. I do have money, and through his arrogance on top of everything he wouldnt even tell us how much he wanted. What a waste. If ypu want someone to fight for you, dont retain him.

When the DCF called me saying they “supported an allegation of abuse/neglect,” I collapsed. I was a basket case, unable to eat or sleep for fear of what would happen. I needed to protect myself, my rights, and my family, but didn’t know what to do. I met with lawyers who were uninformed & full of negativity toward my case. Atty Seaver was different. Kevin is quite knowledgeable of the issues related to child abuse and recognizes when the investigation by DCF is flawed. Though expensive, the cost is worth the tenacity with which he goes after the investigators. As a child care professional, this accusation destroyed my career. Kevin has done everything he could to reverse this injustice and try to put controls on the prejudicious decision-making of DCF. My fair hearing was a joke, with the reviewer ignoring fact, science and testimony. Kevin remained supportive throughout. I am unable to proceed to Superior court. Kevin, recognizing the injustices done to me, has offered to proceed. I only hope I will be able to someday reimburse him for his services. In addition to his skill, his greatest asset is Donna! She keeps him on track.

Kevin and Donna were available to my husband and I AROUND the CLOCK. When I was scared he was right there to ease my pain. If he didn't answer his phone, he called me right back. He met with us on Saturdays and Sundays to go over documentation over coffee, muffins, breakfast, lunch, whatever. Kevin worked with us, not just for us. He is a bit pricey, but I would retain him again if I had. He has respect in court and with the attorney's that work for DCF. He is aggressive which is the ONLY way I would want my attorney to be. Very expensive, but worth it--ate, slept, and breathed our case while it was going on. Mainly deals with the less than savory people at DSS--defends clients against 51A's, represents them at fair hearings, etc.
