I have referred clients with Michigan DUI issues to Patrick on numerous occasions, and have also consulted with him on behalf of my own clients. He literally wrote the book on Michigan DUI defense, and I have several copies in my office bookcase.

Patrick Barone is a sort of ambulance-chaser for DUIs.
I read the AVVO reviews - keep in mind that AVVO is run by attorneys - so people like Patrick Barone pay AVVO to keep their high ratings.
This site is not the same.*
Patrick Barone charged me $5000.00 to show up in court one time.
When the prosecutor offered a decent deal, Patrick Barone balked and told me great stories of how he would have the charges dismissed.
So I followed his lead.
A few days later, Patrick Barone called me and said that the next court appearance would cost an additional $2500.00.
I could not afford another $2500.00.
What did Patrick Barone do? He wrote a letter to the court, and told them that I *never* paid him, so he was dropping my case.
lol.
Around 100% of the positive reviews you read about him online are written by him and his friends.
He even got bounced once from either Yelp or another site, because their analytics showed that the reviews were similar

If you’re in a tough situation and you need the best representation, I’d highly recommend Patrick. I interviewed the “best” lawyers around SE Michigan and was initially hesitant to spend so much money on a lawyer, but in hindsight, I made the perfect choice and do not regret it one bit.
I was arrested for drunk driving in Orchard Lake Michigan and my case ended up in the 48th District Court. This was my 2nd OWI. After speaking to many lawyers and doing some research on that court, I knew the odds were against me. I interviewed over ten lawyers and I ended up hiring Mr. Barone, and he eventually got my case entirely dismissed!
I got pulled over and I refused the breath test, and my blood test came back at a .136.

Reader's Digest version:
ME: DUI, 0.12 BAC
I sent an email to Mr. Barone office on a Friday, and received a call within an hour. We agreed to meet on a Saturday.
He charged $1500.00 on my credit card, stating this would be the full amount barring trial, or paperwork (subpoenas)
After our first court appointment, he angered the prosecutor, who then enhanced my charge (!)
When we reviewed the tapes of the arrest, Mr Barone proclaimed that I would have a 50-50% chance of the case
being dismissed, if he challenged the arrest.
He then demanded that I pay him another $1200.00, to once again appear in court, to challenge my arrest.
That was not our agreement. Additionally, I did not have $1,200 sitting around (he would only accept full payment, payable and due immediately.)
I replied in an email and said I would not pay more than we agreed upon.
That week, instead of replying or calling me, he went to the court and removed himself as my attorney.

Mr. Barone is the most respected attorney for DUI in the entire State of Michigan, second being Mike Nichols. He takes precedent setting cases. He is the first or second person to ever successfully fight a SCRAM conviction. The minute he's hired the prosecution changes and wishes more of a plea deal. He is certified in regards to the breathalyzer machine so he knows how to cross the police analysis and ask specific questions that he knows and understands almost always better than the officer. Now, it appears he is being the victim of a cruel campaign against a competitor attorney or perhaps a prosecutor who is angry that he humiliated them. He's nationally known. If you look up the top defense attorneys of all time Gerry Spence is always listed in the top 3, and Mr. Barone went to his trial school and has pictures with him. =I hired him as an attorney after others failed and he saved my ass and I was close to suicide. He's a great man. I recommend him to anybody.

As a doctor a DUI conviction could have changed the direction of my career. Mr. Barone offered a clear plan on my case and never gave up. After we started getting ready for trial the prosecutor finally gave in and offered a plea reduction to a careless driving. Now I can get on with my life

Mr Barone handled my case excellently. He is very professional and knows how to get the job done. My case was pretty cut and dry but he still managed to get the best outcome that I could have hoped for. I felt very confident that Patrick Barone was trying his hardest to help me out during the gruesome and paninful experience of a DUI. I would recommend Patrick to anyone that is looking for a lawyer that knows how to handle DUIs and other similar criminal offenses. I had a lot of faith in this firm as they were recommended by another lawyer. I had my first DUI offense and put all my confidence in this firm. The prosecutors were not offering anything beyond impaired. I talked to my lawyer several times asking him if he thought I had a chance at trial or not. He repeatedly told me that is not his decision to make. I told him that this is what he does for a living, so I felt like he would have a better opinion since he knew my case very well. He still proceeded to tell me that he did not want to persuade my decision. I was new to this and was hoping for him to give me better insight on the situation. Each time we met I felt like he was basically telling me I was guilty without saying it. I had bad a feeling about it but took my chances. We went to trial and I got the worst of the worst sentencing. From my understanding this firm was supposed to dig deep into what was wrong so the case could be dismissed. My lawyer seemed very uninterested

If you want to waste your money then this is the lawyer for you.They do nothing ,check out nothing,but they do collect your money.The Sec. of State saidthere was no case. No ticket,no artest,bloodwas contaminated at hospital with MORPHEN,'cannot be used against a person.Well it can be if the transcrips are no longer available. After 60days they are distroyed. These LAWYERSdidnt know tihs?

The Barone Defense Firm is top notch #1
In March 08 I was arrested for DUI 3rd Felony Violation...
I contacted the Barone Defense Firm after reading reviews
and their expertise in DUI cases. Knowing that this is all
they do is drunk driving cases and have much background
and know the laws surrounding them, I hired them right away!
I was in a parked car with it running and behind the wheel...

Mr. Barone has literally written the book on drunk driving offenses. He and his partners did an outstanding job representing one of my family members. They investigated the case thoroughly and wrote a first-class brief explaining why the arrest was unconstitutional. The prosecutor offered to reduce a charge of OWI to careless driving. There is a cost involved with hiring an attorney, of course, but when you weigh that against what you stand to lose, it is money well spent. We could not have been happier with Mr. Barone and his colleagues.

Patrick was always late for my court times and I took the heat at the court for it, he never spent time with me on anything, I always had to remind him of things and his website is so un true, big money for nothing!
