Hire this attorney at your own peril! Ask other attorneys in Boulder about him. You will find that the consensus is that he is a very poor lawyer, but he is a very nice guy. I sure wish I had done this before hiring him. He showed up in court for my trial utterly unprepared, his incompetence caused critical evidence to not be admitted, and the outcome has cost me literally hundreds of thousands of dollars. He did not inform me that an appeal had to be filed within 45 days of the judgement, thus eliminating any hope of correcting his utterly abysmal performance in court. His lack of ethics forced me to report him to the Colorado Supreme Court disciplinary committee for encouraging me to commit perjury under oath. The list of sins of commission and omission could go on and on, but instead just learn from my very costly (both emotionally and financially) mistake: Find a competent attorney and do not hire this guy.

It's difficult to not feel sorry for this guy. He tries but really isn't smart enough to do what he does. At first I thought he was just dishonest, but later realized he's just not very smart. If you have him do work for you, expect to get very involved and review all of the details.

Jim is an OK attorney, but there are a lot of issues between mistyped documents to forgetting to tell people about court date cancellations or those already scheduled! Almost half of the court documents his assistant typed up were off in one way or another, and the other people don't have to sign an incorrect order. ---------I used Jim in a custody case but he didn't really fight at all. If my son's mother didn't move away and sign custody over to me, it would've went on for a few more years. My son's mother violated custody orders almost four times but Jim never once mentioned it to the judge, who probably would've had her locked up. Its hard losing a daycare and thousands in child support under court orders because of a parent who knows they can play the system against a weak attorney. Don't use him if you have a significant other who is going to fight or be dramatic because he doesn't really push back.

James Cooke Is extremely knowledgeable and I know he truly cares about doing the right thing. He not a "shark" that only cares about money, for this reason he has been my attorney for 10 years and has also helped many of my friends and family.

Jim has helped me for the past several years in regards to a very contetious divorce. His knowledge is thorough, his work excellent. He has provided me with a sincere belief that not all lawyers are "sharks". I would recommend him to anyone at anytime. He is simply everything that I could want from an attorney.

This lawyer made several mistakes in the documents. He caused many unnecessary delays. Basically, I did all the work to get the estate done. I had to check all of his calculations as most of them were incorrect. I would correct his mistakes and he would "lose" that information. He did not even have a legal document that he put together. I had to fax him a copy of my document that he had given me.
