Richard was able to quickly and efficiently figure out what was going on in my custody/divorce case. He is fair in his billing (hard to find) and amazing in the courtroom. I feel much more secure with Richard on my side and at the same time he keeps me from being too protective of my son and within reasonable boundaries. He is busy because he is good. He isn't good to the people who he believes aren't forthright which is why I think we see the really bad ratings and then really good ratings. He has a gift and I am grateful that I was able to meet and work with Richard.

Our case was a confusing one. We needed a strong attorney!!! Richard was recommended to us, by several people. We were very impressed when we heard, from a CPS SW, that CPS SWs did not enjoy being on the opposite side of the table from Richard. This made it more appealing to work with him. We needed strong advocacy and logic. This is exactly what we got! We hope never to be in the position of needing an attorney again. However, if we do, we know where to find Richard, and we know the TRUTH will be told and justice will prevail. We NEVER had difficulty getting in touch with Richard or his assistants. We were very pleased with the outcome of our case! Money well spent!

Richard Okrent spoke with tenacity, but when it came down to it all I got was mediocrity. One hearing that he should have had in the bag was totally botched. I would not recommend Richard Okrent to anyone. I truly felt he worked more for the Support system and my ex and not for me.

What an incredible advocate! I have many years of experience in the legal profession and if I ever needed an attorney, Richard is the first place I would go. He takes his cases personally and fights for the underdog. He lives, breathes, eats, sleeps his clients. A busy lawyer is a good lawyer and the last thing I would want is an attorney who had no clients or files in his office. Just like I wouldn't want to eat at a restaurant that had no customers, I wouldn't want an attorney who wasn't busy--busy restaurant usually means good food; lawyers are busy because people want to hire them because they are great. I have never seen an attorney work with such tenacity. He is incredibly persuasive to the Court. I would never wish to be his adversary. He would be more than a worthy opponent; I would be working day and night to catch up with all of his experience. He takes the cases so seriously that it is though he is representing himself. He's an outstanding attorney.

We Won!!! Mr. Okrent hammered the opposition's star witnesses. His mastery of his profession shines in a trial setting. It took a little bit longer than I would have liked to get our case to the trial, but once we were there, it became clear that we had hired THE man for the job.

I would never want to go through what I've been through again with CPS (or wish it on my enemy) but if I had to I would hire Richard again in a heartbeat. He was an attack dog who didnt let up and I slept better at night knowing he was on my case. His hourly rate is very very good considering his work quality. Highly recommended!

I do agree that Okrent's practice is a busy one and he is sometimes difficult to get a hold of. However, we were referred to him by another atty who said in dependency cases “he is the best there is in this County”, and I am thankful that he is on our side. With his experience and background knowledge, he understands the system and the dependency process well. His billable rates are reasonable and his advice has been right on target. His communication style may be very honest and direct, which we have appreciated since this process is new to us, but it may not work well with everyone. We have found his intentions to be in the right place as an advocate for us and our children, and he never lets me start a discussion without first asking about our children and how they are doing. He is brilliant in court and has been EFFECTIVE, which in our case has meant that he was the determining factor in getting our children returned – which in the end is the most important thing.

The worst experience with a paid attorney ever. We hired Okrent to get DCFS off our backs, and to be our advocate. The only thing Richard is an advocate for is the state's services they try to put you through once you're involved w/them. He is currently a Pro Temp Commissioner for Snohomish County, and it appears that he isn't able to be an effective defense attorney because he's more worried about looking like a good judge. Its impossible to get a hold of him unless you drop by and are lucky enough to catch him and his office, with their "all the files in piles on the floor" filiing system is THE most disorganized business I have ever seen. If his secretary hasn't overlapped appointments, and you do get in to talk to him, he's likely to spend more than half of your meeting looking for your file, like he did with us. Okrent is a bad, bad choice.

I have and am still having trouble getting ahold of him. He is rude and we still don't have our issue resolved.. Going on 4mos... He never returns calls, but on another note be is knowledgeable, and seems to know what's going on.. But being late to a 15min court hearing and charging us the full hour out of the retainer... Rediculous.

I'm not sure what the problem was with the previous writer but I have to say I've had the opposite experience thus far. I walked into his office late friday night without an appointment his bags packed for a trip... he still talked to me for an hour without an appointment. He's contacted me during weekends and religious holidays thus far to make sure the job gets done. I trust him thus far. Maybe he is busy because he has a lot of clients maybe he is busy because he is good. He's helped me make the right decisions when emotions tend to cloud decicion making. I think he's a gunslinger that I want on my side. I wouldn't want him on the other side. Maybe that is the best way to judge an attorney..How would I like itif you represented the other party. I personally don't think I would care for him on the oposing side of the court.

hes really hard to get a hold of but he gets the job done and doesn't mess around. he knowns more than most of the judges in that county.

He is the best attorney I've ever come across. One of the main things I liked about him is that I trusted him and his judgment completely. I loved watching him in court; he would transform from a nice, quiet-spoken man into a lion. I wish I could use him in a current case I am involved with (personal injury in a car accident) because I don't trust the lawyer I've got at all and don't know whether to believe what he's telling me is the truth or that he just doesn't want to put forth any effort on my behalf. I always knew that Richard Okrent would work his tail off on my behalf.
