I highly recommend Dorothy Courten and Rachel Aloni as attorneys. I was involved in an extremely frustrating and difficult divorce and they navigated me through the process with compassion, professionalism, expertise and humor when I felt hopeless. I appreciate everything that they have done for me and can truly say that they lead me from a very dark place into the light. I would absolutely recommend them as attorneys. Without question the best family attorney in Suffolk county... She tells you how it is, she doesn't sugar coat anything. She zealously represented me despite outstanding balance. She cares, is compassionate but doesn't take any crap from her clients. Her knowledge of the law and experience is uncanny.I have been with Dorothy for over 6 years and trust her implicitly. I've spoken to many court officers at Suffolk Court and all have said if they were going through a divorce Ms. Courten is who they would retain. As per her secretaries, they are efficient and run a tight ship. I have had the unfortunate experience with other attorneys and no one runs a more efficient, courteous office than Dorothy Courten. Ms. Courten has helped me through an impossible situation. I have been fortunate to have Ms. Courten in my corner.

I had a very positive experience with Dr. Courten. She was very flexible with me, and did anything BUT overcharge me. She very effectively handled my situation, which never went to court, largely because of her. I can't say other people here are right or wrong. In fighting for her client within the way the American legal system exists (adversarial), she might do things that non-lawyers wouldn't approve of. But from my experience, she will do right by those clients she believes in, and I have recommended her, as she was recommended to me by someone whom she helped out of a desperate situation.

Not a advocate for her client. Racked up a $25,000 bill in one year and I received nothing. Had to get another lawyer to finish. She is a terrible, terrible human being.

DO NOT USE THIS LAWYER SHE MISREPRESENTS HER SELF AND DOESNT EVEN SHOW UP FOR HER CASES WHEN SHE PROMISES SHE KNOWS HOW IMPORTANT A HEARRING IS AND THAT SHE WILL BE THERE, THEY WILL SEND IN A DIFFERENT ATTORNEY THAT IS NOT EVEN FAMILIAR WITH YOUR CASE. THIS IS THE WORST OF ALL ATTORNIES I HAVE EVER USED. SHE ENDANGERED MY CHILDREN BY HER FOOLISH GAMES AND KNOWLEDGE SHE CLAIMS TO HAVE BUT DOES NOT.

When I went to see her, I was in a lot of pain. I had a husband who was cheating on me and as a result my self esteem and self respect was shattered. She helped me a great deal. She held my hand and helped me get through a very long and nasty divorce. She got me what I wanted out of the settlement, and most importantly fought at times harder than me for my chidlren. You need someone with that energy on your side. The whole process (specially when there is a custody fight) is exhausting - emotionally and physically. She is busy, yes. But she cares and she would fight for you. She is a fantastic lawyer.

She did not forward my Final Divorce Decree which she insisted opposing counsel prepare. I had to get a copy of from the county clerk. Upon review it contained numerous things which were never agreed to. I had to pay another attorney to correct it. She also didn't forward a Qualified Domestic Relations Order which I am now in the process of attempting to have corrected. She is negligent and just plane horrible.

Have to believe that the poor ratings are written by her opponents. She is a zealous advocate for her clients. Woe to those that go up against her. Check her record. She does not lose.
