Bruce Engel and his entire team (shout out to co-counsel Tamara Bubis) are to be congratulated for their professionalism, expertise and care for a family member who was recently dealing with multiple charges. Bruce is extremely organized and relentless in obtaining every piece of evidence that ultimately resulted in the complete acquittal of all charges.

Bruce Engel is a very professional lawyer, that will fight for you and with you by your side. He was able to get all my charges acquitted(Alcohol over 80mg, careless and leaving the scene).
Throughout the pre-trial/trial he was honest, and straight foward with what could happen, and kept me feeling ok even when i was at my highest stress level.

Bruce Engel is a very professional and awesome criminal defence attorney. His legal fees for our difficult case were high, but you get what you pay for. My husband was wrongfully accused of sexual assault charges against a minor and could have faced prison time if convicted. In meeting with him, it was apparent that he didn’t sugar coat things, would rather speak to us face to face and that was he was very caring and understanding. This nightmare caused unimaginable stress for us and he was there even late at night to put my mind at ease (24/7). We were together the three of us a team. He can play hard ball and will if he needs to. This could have ended so badly for my husband and ruined his entire life, BUT Bruce won our case and our nightmare is over. On a funny side note on the first day of trial, he had me giggling at his tie. It was a tie which had criminals on it and little handcuffs . As a mother going through the legal system for the first time, I relied on Bruce to give us guidance and good counsel. It was anything but. He preyed on our fear and was overcharging us for things we didn't know were even happening. I fired him and went with another Ottawa lawyer. I've since learned that he has this reputation. I wish I had read these reviews before engaging.

Bruce was both compassionate and forthright. He communicated very well with us and managed our expectations including being up front about the potential cost. He did exactly what he said he was going to do in his approach with our son's case and kept us informed along the way. He was always quick to respond to any questions we had. We were all thrilled with a positive outcome. Although we hope to never have need we would not hesitate to hire him again. I can recommend Bruce without hesitation.

I would recommend never using Bruce Engel. You will end up resolving nothing and just paying lawyers fees on top of your court fees! I went to him for a traffic ticket and he did absolutely nothing except send a paralegal whom was younger then myself, to sit beside me in court. Didnt get any points off, or any $$$, still stuck with the same $2000 ticket, the same 6pts from the original ticket plus $2000 lawyers fees. NOT cool.I could have just gone to court on my own and kept the additional $2000 lawyers fees.

Bruce did not perform up to my expectations as he was primarily looking out for his own self interest. My best interests were definitely not his first priority. He seemed to be always in a rush, many details were missed, his advice was changing all the time. Very disappointed.

A friend and I were coaccused of a very serious crime. He hired another lawyer while I retained Bruce at almost twice of what he paid. Bruce was always avaialable and promptly responded to me, while my friend never received return calls or emails. He was found guilty while I was acquitted. I guess that you really do get what you pay for!!

Bruce recently represented me and was instrumental in convincing the judge to withdraw the charges against me. Both he and his staff guided me throughout this terrible and stressful ordeal. Whenever I called the office, I got a live person and I was always able to track Bruce down even after hours. Dont think twice about retaining him if you evder find yourself in trouble!!!

Not Guilty on all 22 charges is what the judge said. Mr. Engel shook my hand and with that ended a 2 1/2 year nightmare. The only good thing to come of that was that I got to meet Mr. Engel. As someone who never so much as got a speeding ticket, Mr. Engel helped me navigate the dangerous waters of the criminal justice system in an organized, calm, and professional manner. He treated me with respect and always included me in the planning of my defence. I now truly appreciate the value of criminal lawyers and am forever grateful for Mr. Engel's skills and patience throuhout! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Mr. Engel has very little focus on the cases he picks up. He tends to assign his cases to entry level law students without his supervision. In our case this resulted in repeated mistakes on part of the students and a conviction of our innocent loved one. I strongly discourage you from trusting this business with your case be it minor or major. Do your search before signing up with this business.

I was a first time offender for a serious charge and hired Bruce after meeting an initial lawyer who instilled no confidence in me. Bruce was to the point, very professional, put me at ease and re-assured me he would do everything in his power. At the same time he didn't sugar coat things, which may come off strong to some but I would prefer open honestly so I can be prepared for the worst, instead of just hoping for the best. My situation is ongoing but the results he obtained are more than I ever expected with a positive outcome in sight. Bruce and all his staff have been very attentive, caring and nurturing through this alien process I found myself in - I couldn't have made it through without them. I don't know what other lawyer fees normally go for, but Bruce was worth every penny!

Bruce is not the cheapest lawyer, but you get what you pay for - and this guy is a quality lawyer and very professional. Bruce got me back driving again and I can't thank him enough!! He is an extremely arrogant, egocentric, condescending lawyer. Those are the positive attributes of MR.Engel. Through personal experience and that of a few friends who also, sadly, retained Mr.Engel to represent him, I find that he is an extremely self serving man. His own reflection greatly out weighs his concern for the outcome for his clients. With my experience, I found him to be thoroughly lacking in preparation, compassion and empathy. Worst of all, he accepts no accountability in the event of bad outcomes for his clients,is an absolute master of deflecting blame or conceeding that he was unprepared. He is incredibly expensive and there appears to be a pattern of prolonging cases (my feeling is that approach is clearly designed purely for more billing hours. God Bless you Bruce
