2003 I had a drug case my first charge ever in my life I had .5 a half gram of crack the police didn’t find on my possession seemed like a easy case it was a possession charge any body else who never been in any trouble in they life would have got probation or drug court for such a small amount but instead I got 10 yrs I did 2 and went back to court on PCR against IVAN TONEY judge miller looked over the case and ask Ivan Some question simple ones he said a lawyer should know to do basic stuff like talk about my right to trial or did they red me my rights before arresting me which they didn’t tell me either and Judge Miller got so mad he said in court and I quote MR TONEY u handled this case carelessly and with PREJUDICE HE OVER TURNED MY CASE AND TOLD ME GO HOME YOU SHOULD HAVE NEVER WENT TO PRISON AND MR TONEY I HAVE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT YOU AND I WILL BE LOOKING INTO YOU WITH THE LAWYERS BOARD this is judge miller who said this I came home after 2 yrs in prison for nothing TERRIBLE

I hired Ivan for two cases... He done a great job on both! He always answered my calls, always returned my calls if we needed to talk more later about the case, price was very reasonable, and he did an excellent job on my cases!! He's very honest and to the point, he doesn't beat around the bush!! Very good lawyer, would recommend him to anyone!! ??

I don't understand all these bad reviews he has always called me back and has kept myself and my family informed. He cares about my case and cares about me. He is fairly priced and explains things to my parents and i when we don't understand. I had another big shot lawyer who cost way more money and the only times we talked was during the consultation and 10 minutes before the judge called me up. Toney is an awesome lawyer and would recommend him to others

I found Ivan Toney in the phone book to help get my granddaughter back. My sons wife kicked him out of north carolina and she had kept my granddaughter. I raised her since the age of 2 months old. Robbie's wifes always been unstable and pilladdicted. always difficult. We went to court and got full custody at the temporary hearing. I thought ivan had us doing too much of the paperwork for him. He was wellprepared in court, but, that's only because i did half the work. After i saw him do his job, I realized that anyone could do what he did. He was aggressive, but I don't see why people have to pay thousands of dollars to a lawyer. He's a little mouthy at times but he was friendly enough. Im glad I got my granddaughter back and he did ok as a lawyer. But, thinking about it, I believe i didn't need his help. He's ok though. Got no issues with him.

I hired Ivan Toney to represent me in a adopition. I paid him $3000. He would not return my calls ever. The only thing he did was have another attorney come in after the baby was born for the birth mother to sign a relinqishment paper, which I had to pay him $300 for 5 minutes of work. Ivan never filed the paperwork through family court. Would not return my calls or keep appointments. I brought my son home from the hospital and all. 5 years later is when I found out that he never did anything! I actually have no legal right to my son. I called him and left a message, he returned it, only to say he must had forgot to file the papers. He requested $3000 more to finish my case. I hired a different attorney to do the adoption. I called Ivan and requested my file and he said it would cost me $100. He is a joke!! Very rude. I'm out all that money and had to hire another attorney. DO NOT HIRE IVAN TONEY FOR ANYTHING.

Ivan is tough and a good fighter in court. He won my case and beat up my husbands lawyer, got me alimony and my kids. I would recomend him to anyone.

Mr. Toney did 2 of my General sessions cases. 1 was in spartanburg and the other was in greenville. He traveled to spartanburg and stayed in contact with me about everything that was going on. He mailed letters and made lots of phone calls. I had a very postive outcome on my 2nd case. I would reccomend Ivan to any and everyone. Great guy, and has a cute paralegal that works for him. It makes your visit to his office quite plesant. Thanks Ivan for all your hard work.

I'm not sure what everyone else is fussing about but this guy is one if the best lawyers that has ever represented me. He was very thoughtful, understanding, caring, and always did what he said he was going to do. He always returned my phone calls. I will always come to him for any legal problems.

I hired Ivan in jan 2009 from Florida in a interstate child custody act and he always returned my phone calls and my son now lives with me in Florida. His Mother hand a drug problem and he called me crying all the time Ivan took care of it and he was great Sincerely Dan Ferguson Gulf Breeze Florida

Ivan Toney did a fantastic job for my parents and myself in a custody case involving my now 10 year old son. Ivan did the necessary research for this case, and he even went beyond the call of duty by sometimes calling me after hours to gather additional info regarding our case. His fees were honestly and fairly represented, and he even gave me time to make the payments. Needless to say, we were successful in court because of his professionalism and obvious experience. I would hire this attorney again without hesitation.

Me toney. was hired on a sat morning an was ready in court on monday morning at 9 he was great.this was a case where the grandparent was acussed of abusing a child. he saw through the fathers acussing an made the judge see it to....he stayed intouch with the family the whole time worked all weekend.....i can say nothing but the best about him

Ivan did an awesome job helping me with my divorce. I have sent him a bunch of people and they have liked him too. I don't know what all u people r complaining about, maybe he doesn't answer every call that I made but when we got in court he killed my husbndn's lawyer and got me cusotdy of my kids. and now the sonofabitc is in jail for not pauying his child support.

This lawyer quoted me a fee much much less than the lawyer I had at the beginning of the case. My ex-wife's attorney had been beating up on me and Ivan took this thing to a trial and got me out of years of alimony. He is ruthless in court.

we have had ivan toney as a lawyer since nov30 2008.He is such a liar.He never returns your phone calls.He is always giving you the run around when you do talk to him.We have a Child involved in this .We have all the information we need.All we need is for Ivan Toney to go pull up records on this mom and get her for all sorts of things in order to Win our case.We ask him 2 Months ago to get us a emergency hearing .As of today Sept 20 2008 We still have not heard from him.He will not returns our calls .When we do go up there he always has and Ecuse for everything.We gave him 2200.00 up front.iT TOOK HIM FOREVER TO GET US IN COURT TO BEGIN WITH.nOW WE NEED TO GET BACK IN COURT SO WE CAN GET THIS SAID AND dONE.i FEAR FOR MY GRANDDAUGHTERS LIFE WHEN SHE GOES WITH HER MOM EVERY OTHER WEEKEND.iVAN KNOWS OF ALL THIS SITUATION AND DONT EVEN TRY TO ATTEMPT TO DO NOTHING ABOUT IT.i AM SO FED UP WITH HIS LIES AND NOT RETURNING MY CALLS.I THINK IT IS TIME TO PUT A STOP TO THIS.If anyone else agrees

ivan helped me with a drug case where I was falsly accused of possession of a controlled substance. The DA or prosecutor wanted me to plead but Ivan Toney stuck to his guns and the case was dismissed

this guy is a total con-artist. don't think about calling for his services. He represented me in a seperation hearing in 06", and it was a total sham. We had two weeks to prepare a case against my ex, my hearing was on a Monday morning. He ducked my calls and visits to his office for 13 days. He finally returned my call on the evening before my hearing, and bacically built my case on what I had told him over the phone. Needless to say the next morning in court I was soundly whipped into submission by my ex and her REAL attorney. We agreed on a price, he then took it upon himself to raise that price by $500, and then had the nerve to ask for more money at the end of my ordeal!! He walked away with substantial amount of money, and maybe, i say maybe, put in 5-6 hours of work on my case. Please pass the word... this guy is a fraud!!!

I also just finished a fee dispute against Ivan Toney and was awarded fees to be refunded. Apparently, Mr.Toney doesn't feel he has to answer to anyone and the laws of SC do not apply to him. Although he doesn't have an eye/hand coordination problem taking your money, he does have a severe problem of not delivering services he promised, returning phone calls, delivering documents in a timely manner, or charging more than initially agreed upon, which according to Webster is considered fraud. We now have a Certificate of Non Compliance and more paperwork to file with the SC Office of Disciplinary Counsel. Despite the award of my money being returned, I do not see that happening... I would recommend you run as fast as you can away from hiring this attorney unless you enjoy Nightmare at 304 Pettigru Street, Greenville, SC. This is one attorney that should definitely not be allowed to practice law. His unethical behavior tarnishes the attorneys that truly do an outstanding job

Failed to return phone calls. Failed to respond to any questions / concerns / status of my case. Unprepared during court appearances. Failed to notify me of scheduled court hearing. Failed to provide itemized billing but requested additional funds. Very poor communication & no client service. Will file complaint with SC Board.

This attorney faild to file the court order in a timely fashion (never filed the oppsing attorney filed it 3 1/2 months later) and left us in contempt of court. He also failed to communicate with us about what he was doing and made agreements with the opposing attorney without our knowledge. He refused to answer our question regarding the case. Now he has decided that he is not going to finish the case that we have paid for. We are reporting this one to the SC Bar.
