I've chosen this attorney thinking he'd be aggressive about defending my (and my family's) best interests. His firm and him, somehow, made me feel like they were a good team. It's been a few months now, that I'm paying him, seeing him in action and, as I'm doing more research, I realize he's a very shady guy. I don't know what I was thinking to hire this incompetent. I was too impulsive I think. This has gone so far now that it's very hard for me to consider switching to another attorney... divorce is hard enough as it is. Him and his firm are there for money, not to help you (nor your family) go through the most difficult time of your life in the best possible, maybe mutual, way; They couldn't care less about your family. I don't know what I'll be doing from here on but 1 recommendation to all of you out there, considering Paul Nelson as a family lawyer. Don't. Just don't. Stay away from this shady guy. Do your research; don't choose impulsively like I did.

I engaged Mr. Nelson in July 2010 to do a simple divorce case. Child custody was conceded by me. Five and a half years later I am still in the process with no end in site. He became the trustee of funds from our home sale and in my opinion did not act in an independent trustee and held funds under his control for two and a half years to pay for billings that were over inflated. This Christmas I asked for a release in funds due to my unemployment and he would not release them because he wanted is over charges paid first. In court, he was unorganized and forgot most of my case. He is a poor presenter and usually late. He forgot to make sure key evidence was filed with the court which in my opinion caused my loss of custody. In my opinion, he is only in it to take as much of my family assets and dragged the case on. I have had 3 different associates assigned to the case and each time I had to remind them of the case facts. I strongly recommend not to use him.

Never use this man!!! Made promises and never delivered and continued to bill. You think he knows what he is doing till a real attorney Kicks His ASS... Stay away. You would be better defending yourself.

By definition, if there's a "best" of something there must also be a "worst". Say hello to Paul: a "glad-hand" who tries to engage everyone in conversation to show he's their friend; but when it comes to legal knowledge & its application, you'd do just as well with a brick! Does not pay attention in court, preferring to play with his toys (iPad, iPhone, PC link to legal database). Meantime, his opponent is having his lunch! Violates points of the law a 2nd year student would know better than to do. Keeps extremely poor records, such that he can't recall they even existed & will rely on you to perform his tasks. This man took a simple middle class divorce and charged nearly a QUARTER MILLION DOLLARS in fees...which of course means a roughly equal amount by opposing counsel. RUN, don't walk from this attorney!!!

Poor practioner, pretentious and not up to snuff in the brains department. Lawyer and Staff both lied and double billed for services poorly rendered. Not recomended.

I don't believe Paul knows as much about family law as he claims. Terrible communication. Overpriced!! I paid over $12,000. I regret using this attorney as he only made matters worse.
