This was back in 06-07 - I retained him due to a recommendation from a friend. At first he seemed to be on top of things but then he began not returning calls or emails. I was informed by one of his employees that we should probably look for another attorney because he was having a problem with drugs. Shortly after that it seemed that he quit working on my case, was arrested for a DUI, and his office shut down. When we requested my paperwork, whoever took over, was unable to locate any of it. He left me with nothing and no representation in which my ex's attorney tried to take full advantage of. Luckily I was able to find another attorney fairly quickly. I also received no money back and I had a credit with his office!

EXTREMELY hard to keep in touch with. I'm gambling with my life here and paying an insane amount of cash for such little work to be done. All 3 phone numbers have been disconnected, his voicemail box is full, and I'm 1000 miles away with no way to get in touch with my lawyer.

Impossible to get in touch with, Mr. Loewenthal doesn't seem to care. I believe he is knowledgable, but all other areas are lacking. When I have called to talk to him, he does most of the talking and interrupts me very often. I'm not even sure he's familiar with my case, though he's had it for several months. At one point Mr. Loewenthal asked his secretary to schedule a phone conference with me, but when I called he didn't remember requesting the conference. He has not sent me copies of any of the motions, and when I ask for copies Mr. Loewenthal doesn't come through. One time his office staff REFUSED to take a message, instructing me to call his cell phone, which he was not answering. Sometimes he does call me back when I leave a message at voice mail, but it is rare and unproductive.
