Do your family and yourself a favor and hire Dr. Aylward. She understands the laws and the application of law more than most judges and if you want the best outcome in your situation you need her on your side. She works in a detailed manor which identifies potential pitfalls and down the road issues that most people going through a divorce never realize or give much thought to. She guided me to identify the most meaningful path forward for myself and my children all while helping me restore peace in our lives. Her advice was flawless!

I was recommended Ilonka Aylward from several people as an honest lawyer who will really fight for your best interests, which is why I chose to seek her consultation. Dr. Ilonka Aylward is very thorough, knowledgeable, collaborative, gauges how aggressive to be based on listening to her client, and is both sensitive and understanding for how emotional her client feels when going through these court ordeals. I am a highly logical and analytical person, but during the court process I became emotionally exhausted and Dr. Aylward was able to be supportive and help push the matter to a close.
She is realistic and provides good sound counsel!
I had to go to court to modify child custody order. I had interviewed several attorneys, but found Dr. Aylward highly competent and the best fit for my needs. I am so happy that I went with Dr. Aylward.

Ilonka is very professional. Every her activitity, her advice, especially, her attention to details were so important for me and my case.
She was able to estimate my case objectively and weighted and provide me good recommendations. Never mind whether she did simple things e.g. separation agreement or some complicated stuff she always did it in so high level with good lawyer expertise and proficiency. Though no one wants to find himself in need of an attorney, Ilonka is a credit to the profession. To watch her work is to witness mastery. Her superlative drive and empathy exceed any expectation. Moreover, her ability to apply precisely the correct proportion of carrot and stick is almost eerie. I sincerely feel as if I made a new friend, which is comforting considering the nature of her specialty. We recently required the advice of an attorney knowledgeable in the appeals process and family law. After much research,we contacted Ilonka Aylward. At her suggestion, we set up a consultation via skype, which was great since we are 3 hours away. She was in contact numerous times prior to the consultation, gathering pertinent info about our case.She was very punctual for the online meeting and after talking with her for just a few minutes,we knew we had made the right choice. Ilonka did not think that an appeal would be a likely possibility at this time.We appreciate her honesty & advice in not proceeding with an appeal which would be expensive & probably not successful.She also gave us great advice as how to proceed with our case. Ilonka's knowledge and credentials are impeccable and far surpass other attorneys in her field.She was personable, easy to communicate with,& highly knowledgeable.We would highly recommend her and she will be our "go to" attorney for matters in the future.

First, I'm an attorney and practice commercial real estate. I had to appeal some of my rulings in my divorce case and was a fish out of water. When we contacted Dr. Aylward, we were literally at the end of our rope. About a year prior, my fiance had entered in to a separation agreement with his now ex-wife without the benefit of counsel. It was an agreement that the ex-wife had commissioned a team of lawyers to write, and to say that it was egregious and one-sided is an understatement. In fact, a lawyer that we had contacted in our home state of PA declared it "the worst separation agreement [he had] ever seen," and felt that the only advice he could really give us was "Don't make her mad." By the grace of God, though, we found Ilonka, and she identified one single, solitary sentence in the agreement that gave us the foothold we needed to be able to go to court and have the entire matter revisited, which is exactly what we did. It is exclusively because of her talent, knowledge and dedication that we were able to reclaim our life, and as such, we would strongly recommend her to anyone who is in need of results.

I have had the pleasure to work with Ilonka Aylward, and I recommend her firm highly.
She is an articulate and skillful litigator who has the ability to be either collaborative or ferocious as the situation requires. She was extremely sensitive to the emotional issues of the client. Even when she was successfully playing hard-ball with the other side, she comported herself with dignity and professionalism.
I was impressed that even the judge commented on how well-articulated her motion was. While the cost for her services is in the top echelon of divorce attorneys in Charlotte, her performance and results more than justify the expense.

From the first meeting we felt Ilonka Aylward was listening to our issues. We were very impressed with her knowledge and experience with family law and when we had some problems beyond family law she was she able to draw on other attorneys with that expertise. She always communicated in a timely manner and really tackled the problems head on. Her charges for services were less than we expected. We hope to not have to use her services in the future but if we have family law issues again it will be Ilonka Aylward we go to first.

I have had the pleasure of working professionally with Attorney Aylward. My own observations confirm that all of the nice things that former clients say about her are well justified. She is a very intelligent and imaginative lawyer. In addition, although she tries to settle matters as peacefully as possible, she is--unlike many lawyers who are all bluster--willing to "go to war" on behalf of a client when that is what it takes to get a good result. I never imaged being in a position where I feel like I've lost control of my life.

Dr. Aylward is an outstanding lawyer. It was my good fortune to find her at such a critical, crucial point in my life. She took my case and fought with dogged determination, never faltering. Her tenacity was not only incredible but contagious. After our first court appearance my ex-husband promptly fired his lawyer and immediately sought counsel from one of, if not the highest priced, well known law firms in NC. Dr. Aylward not only rose to the occasion but embraced it. It is hard to say who came to their senses first, my ex-husband or his lawyer. My ex-husband conceded and we settled out of court with a settlement that more than satisfied me. Dr. Aylward fought the fight and she did so fairly, with decency and respect.
