Unsympathetic Domestic Violence Lawyers
I experienced a free consultation with this firm. Not trying to be sexist, but if you are going to have a "blunt" lawyer/whoever speaking with survivors of domestic abuse, maybe don't have it be a man. Totally unsympathetic (except at the end, I guess, when he apologized for leaving me in tears). Yes, I have a case that doesn't really have a winning angle, but this person seemed more interested in pointing out all the ways I had messed up than actually trying to help me. At first, I thought it was because he thought I had no money, but even after I told him I did, he still just wanted to shove me off onto public legal aid. Thanks for nothing but distress--you're supposed to help people understand the law, not make them feel like idiots for not understanding an extremely confusing system. It was a very rude way of saying what you could have said: "We can't help you." Maybe try that, next time.

Excellent family law attorney tells it like it is. She will not BS you to get your money, if you have a poor case she will tell you. As minor counsel she only represents the child/ren, so parents may get upset with her if she finds issues. The minor's counsel and the court's job is to do what is best for the child. I read some of these 1-star reviews and clearly the parent is upset because the court did not side with them. Parents should not use their children as pawns. When there is a highly contested custody case the court will appoint an attorney to represent the child/ren. In order to avoid this the parents should learn to compromise in order to avoid minor's counsel.

I wouldn't have her represent my dog... she doesn't know anything about child custody & she would rather give a child to an abusive father custody then a loving, caring mother custody... what is wrong with this woman???

Bettina Yanez was appointed minors counsel in my child custody case. She did not do her due diligence, made her recommendation off of "heresay" from my ex, was completely rude and unprofessional, talked over me then yelled and pointed her finger two inches from my face when I made the mistake of speaking before she had finished her sentence. Avoid this attorney at all cost, even if free. In the end, you will pay way more or worse, by losing custody of your children. She should be disbarred from family court and most certainly from minor's counsel.

I was facing a restraining order after my ex-spouse accused me of pushing her, attorney Yanez & attorney Connor represented me and they the court found no merit for the charges. Again, thank you.

I strongly recommend Bettina Yanez and her legal team. Bettina was upfront and honest during my consultation. She suggested I exhaust all remedies before considering divorce and recommended marriage counseling first. Other firms I consulted with were just interested in getting me divorced. I felt attorney Yanez was truly interested in my well being and not just generating more business. Three months later it looks like things will work out. No up to date legal knowledge, basically acts as the billing collector & a corrupt one at that. Like the other negative reviews about her absurd billing tactics, she does over charge for her services when in fact she does not provide any services. If u already have stress & are in need of a Attourney who is there to serve u she is not that one. One day u will find u are worse off then u would have been to save the money & represent yourself & suddenly years later start getting billed for random things she goes back & re-itemizes & claims you owe. I couldn't be more annoyed by the way she operates- low morality & dishonest about her levels of success. she thinks all her clients are stupid & don't have access like she does to the court system records & that u will just go along with her going back over years & re-billing u for services u already paid for. There are far better attorneys for cheaper, she is the only one who was useless so beware.

I hired Bettina Yanez about 6 months ago to help me with my divorce case after my spouse walked away from mediation. Bettina Yanez resolved my pending issues with my spouse and was able to get me custody of my children. In my view she is the best attorney for family law matters. She tells it like it is.

Betina is hands down the best family attorney in Orange County! I have hired 2 other attorney's in Orange County in the past and Betina was the first attorney that was not a push over and was all about me and understanding my needs. Her paralegals have always been there for me when I have had questions or need answers. I was amazed with her knowledge her confidence in court that made me feel so much at ease and relaxed when I was in the court room in front of the judge. If I had to rate Betina 1-10 with her Law Firm, prepping my case for court and her performance in court I would have to give her a 10. Overall she is an amazing attorney with a seasoned and reliable staff.

When i found Betting Yanez law firm i was afraid of looking my son. They listen and understood. Al thought at the beginning i felt their communication with me was poor they came around. After my divorce was Finalize my husband refuse to follow a part of our agreement. Once again i seek Yanez team for help. Her peralegal Angelica always return my emails and phone calls. She was always in touch with one off the atternie s to advice me on how to handle my situation . Unfortunately i was not able to solve my issue with my husband. Yanez legal team got on contact with my ex husband and reminded him of he was in violation of our aggretme.

"Mrs. Yanez recently represented me in a child support case and this recently settled, she helped me vacate the financial portion of a default judgment that was innacurately served. Bettina Yanez helped me obtain a much more affordable monthly support amount. She also presented me with the resources, tools, and knowledge to start the process to obtain sole custody of my children. Overall she guided me and gave me hope.

This attorney is knowledgable and affordable. She was always attentive and understanding of our needs. I am thankful for the services she provided my family and I. Mrs. Yanez is professional and understanding and is always looking our for her clients best interests. She was always available for me to ask questions and handled my cases in an effective and efficient manner. The assistants in the office always update their clients within 24hrs to keep the clients informed. My experience with Mrs. Yanez was a positive one. I would recommend this attorney to others. She is less expensive than many other attorneys in the Orange County area.

Bettina Yanez was my divorce attorney in 2007 and was able to help me with my complicated situation. Reason for writing this review is because I was shock to see what the previous person wrote. I do not believe her office handles legal malpractice.

Bettina Yanez has no legal knowledge what so ever and gives poor legal advice if any. She claims she will focus a few cases at a time and will be with you at court but this is a lie. At my first court hearing she ran off to attend other cases she had on the same day and left me by myself. She over charges for her services when in fact she does not provide any services. If I were you I would look for another lawyer with "real" knowledge and experience.
