I was given the recommendation of Bruce Beals by a lawyer friend of mine, who told me "I don't know him personally, but I hear very good things about him from the courts and the social workers", so I met with him and I knew after I interviewed him that he was the one. I had a very complicated and lenghty divorce that lasted a few years. Mr. Beals never once dissapointed me with his knowledge, performance and ethics, I was proud to walk into mediation with him and the business lawyer, they were excellent and they fought for me and my children. I never once had a moment of dissapointment or conflict with Mr. Beals or his staff. Even after the divorce was final, when I had questions, he was always available, helpful and supportive, I could always rely on him. If I had to do it all over again, I would hire him blindfolded again. Thank you Mr. Beals. Your contribution to me and my family is invaluable.

He clearly no longer enjoys practicing law.Is in it for the money. Does not live up to his prior reputation. he won't even prepare for hearings or keep up with current laws.

Bruce Beals has represented my wife for the last 1 1/2 years in a divorce with no end in sight. He places cover letters on what my wife writes, passes the letters on to my attorney, and collects from my wife. He has handed her off to another attorney for financial advice and a Special Master to handle negotiations. Despite efforts from my attorney, Beals has made little attempt or progress with my wife to settle this divorce, and has only taken actions to prolong the process (i.e., the same day an issue of juridiction was resolved by the court, I was issued a temporary restraining order signed by Beals which prohibited any communication whatsoever with my wife). Beals eventually dropped the restraining order, but it was very costly and time consuming. This is not a lawyer to use if you want a proactive or expeditious settlement. Expect it to drag on and cost a fortune.

Actually, I should thank Beals. He represented my ex in a military divorce. Thanks to Beals lack of knowledge of military law, and the fact that he did not bargain with me, my ex didn't get a dime. She did get child support which I would have paid regardless, but the kids are in their 40's now and she doesn't get a dime from me.

He represented me in my divorce case a couple of years ago, and I was pleased with the result (or as pleased as you can be in a divorce). I got the sense that Bruce really cares about his clients and isn't just in it for the money. He's very knowledgeable in family law and gives excellent advice. His hourly fee is a bit high but I felt I got good value for the $$. I would recommend him.

When his cliants see red he sees green! Called him to make arrangements to pay him his fees as the courts demanded and he charged for the call. He is not as bad as Dennis Seymour.

Bruce Beals came across as a kind, mild mannered attorney who would help with my divorce. He saw me the first time for $100,but once hired, he did not represent me well at all. He said he would ask my much wealthier ex to pay for the attorney fees, and college. He did neither. I asked him to NOT file a motion that would embarrass my ex and cause me and my children undue stress because of the resulting anger; he did it without my knowing! It caused much extra pain and suffering, prolonged the case unnecessarily and he charged me for it all at more than $300.00 per hour. It was his mistake, but I was charged. When I asked him about his errors and omissions he would not acknowledge them or apologize. When I was unhappy with the lack of work he provided for me and wanted to switch attorneys he warned me that he "was absolutely sure it would go to trail", and that it would not look good to the judge if I switched. Of course, it was clear by the end there was absolutely no chance of this.

An absolutely excellent attorney. He is knowledgable polite and responsive. Beware however, don't blame Bruce for the crappy anti-man Family Law system weh have in place in this state. Bruce sure went the extra mile for me!!! Ted Swartzbaugh (Loyal Customer)!!

Spent so much money for so little. Charges for every little thing. Office staff is rude. He doesn't inform his clients of anything. You have to ask all the questions. Highly respected in the court system b/c he has been around so long. I would not recommend if you are looking for a fighter, someone with a heart, and someone who will communicate to and with their clients.

In my experience Beals was over rated, burnt out, lazy, entitled, indignant, and did a terrible job.

Just found this site and remember my interaction with Bruce 5 years ago. A fantastic Lawyer. His experience anticipated problems that I did not. The result was a divorce contract that proved to anticipate my ex-wifes change of views. He dealt with the entire process ethically, but working hard for my rights as a client. I was referred to him by a friend and I have refered several friends to him. A good, hard working, experience divorce lawyer.

Very experienced, knowledgeable and trustworthy. I'm a lawyer myself and I refer clients to Bruce who need a skilled family law attorney. He has represented prominent physicians, judges and attorneys in their divorces and is highly regarded in the San Diego legal community.
