A frustrating bait-and-switch. For a simple postnup, I was quoted $1,500. After paying, communication crawled. Months later, he finally sent a draft but demanded an extra ~$2,000. He also charged me for translating French documents without my prior consent, directly violating his own contract terms.
Worse, the draft was garbage. It had over 20 errors and literally called our postnup a "prenup" on page one—a mistake that could have voided the contract! I had to use an AI tool to catch the errors, which he then just copy-pasted.
When I challenged the unapproved fees and terrible quality, he told me to complain to the Law Society (LSO). The LSO took 9 months to tell me fee disputes go to the Assessment Office—which has a strict 1-month deadline. He knew exactly what he was doing to run out the clock.
