Kathy McNair, an Elder Law & Estate Planner, drafted a Trust w/a Supplemental Needs Trust for an adult child w/mental illness. After mother passed we learned the SNT was ineffective due to McNair's poorly drafted Trust. McNair neglected to attach the assets from her client's accounts to the SNT thereby giving the at-risk adult a cash payout of $100K as a named beneficiary on the accounts. After 2-months as the Trustee my family asked for an accounting. We were dismayed to receive an invoice for $4,050. McNair has not incurred court or appraisal fees or paid property bills to account for her excessive bill. A charge of $1,875/5hrs for preparing to meet, 5-beninficaries, to present copies of a poorly written Trust, (estate value approx. $1m.) presented w/out folders in a meeting that lasted less than 1 hour. A 9-min. phone call, logged on a cell phone, billed for 30-mins, $187.50. McNair has proven herself to be lacking in her profession and she pads her client's estate fees.
