Chad required full retainer before he would take the case with a value of over $210,000. Almost 2 years after he took the case until the case went to trial, which was 8 years after company closed and the original suit was filed.
Case concerned if employee/previous owner did or did not showed up for work; should have been a 30-minute trial. Instead, Chad allowed opposition over 2 hours to bring up non-related company operational matters (He never objected for relevance). Case also concerned if employee (who never showed up for work) was violating a non-compete agreement by working for himself within 40 miles of plaintiff's business; instead, Chad never questioned locations where defendant had admitted to performing business (which was less than 18 miles away).
Chad stood 30 feet away from client during the entire trial without conversing with client except during break. Judge stopped trial before summary and sided with Defendant.
