Stephanie provided excellent advice when I was trying to figure out a tricky separation process from my common-law partner with implications for division of property. She was empathetic and rational in a very emotional and difficult time, and helped navigate the separation with efficiency and deft.

Stephanie Szczesniak was my lawyer and throughout my case, she was wonderful. She is very knowledgeable, compassionate and empathetic and very thorough in explaining the process and what to expect. She answered all my questions and always responded quickly to emails and provided guidance and clarity on the many issues that came up during the process. The communication was exceptional as I was always provided with constant updates. My separation agreement is now settled and I am pleased with the outcome. I would highly recommend her service.
Last, I would not hesitate to recommend Cohen Family Law to anyone looking for a family lawyer. Their approach allows you to focus on the goal of moving on. All of their staff I had the chance to talk to, are very considerate, professional, efficient and responsive.

I live and work nearly 500km from Ottawa. I needed a family lawyer in the region to help me with my legal issues there. I relied on Lawyer Ratingz to find a lawyers, and after searching and reviewing this website as well as other sources of information about lawyers, I decided to work with Stephanie. She is a young but very knowledgeable family lawyer, and also very helpful and responsive to my questions and legal needs. I felt very comfortable working with her, and had full trust in her work. I was surprised when hearing her saying several times that it would not take her much time to do this and that for me. Her rate is also very reasonable. Talking more broadly,I hope many people will provide objective ratings of lawyers based on their own experience. That would not only help others to find good lawyers, but would also encourage better service by this industry.

My ex-wife was initially making entirely unreasonable demands. Miss Szczesniak kept everything fair and provided wise counselling . I'm happy with the service she provided.

Stephanie is a great communicator and very knowledgeable. As I have not had to deal with these types of circumstances, she took me through the process, step by step which I appreciated. I had to make certain decisions and she discussed with me the pros and cons of each one of them. This was a challenging process for me made easier by Stephanie's professionalism during our meetings as well as in her emails and phone calls. She understands the law and the system and she was looking out for my welfare. And when she says she will research or follow up with the other lawyer, she will. One thing that I really appreciated is that she informed me ahead of time if she was going to be out of the office for a conference or a workshop. It allowed me to work my schedule around hers if necessary.

I'm not sure my words will do Stephanie justice but I will do my best. Going through a divorce is an emotional roller coaster but multiply that a 100 fold when you have left a domestic violent situation.To make it worse I had already had an extremely negative and expensive experience with my initial lawyer. Meeting Stephanie I was immediately put at ease by her humanness. She was with me every step of the way and patiently answering all my questions. She explained the pros and cons through out the process. Helping me to make informed decisions along the way. Communication was constant and effective throughout by email, phone calls and face-to-face meetings. The few times she was unreachable she let me know in advance so I had opportunity to contact her if needed. Her rates were very reasonable and invoices were easy to read as I had the previous experience to compare it to. She remained tenacious making multiple follow-up calls when the other lawyer refused to respond to her emails.
