He aggressively pursued my claim against my brother-in-law and my ex-husband's estate for my inheritance and dependent support for my daughter. He was fair on billing and I would come back to him for any future legal needs.

I found Paul very informative and always kept me updated on the status of my case and court dates. Because of his knowledge as a family law lawyer our case was over just after the first day of a three day trial. I am very satisfied with the results and how Paul got there. Paul was the calm I needed in my crazy storm of a court case. He is direct and professional, he takes the time to explain things clearly and check (and triple check) that everything that needs to happen has been taken care of before it comes down to the wire. He has a strong presence in court and negotiations which made me feel secure that at the end of the day I would get what I needed. 10/10 recommend

I fired my last lawyer after a consultation with Paul. My mother died during our courtcase and my old lawyer could not figure out what to do. I do not know what I would do without Paul helping me navigate the steps. Would recommend him to anyone who needs help with our broken system

Never thought I would say I met an honest lawyer but he tells it like it is and doesnt sugar coat it. Me and my family have used him for at least three cases now. Always reasonable rates.

Paul Portman is a terrible lawyer who is only concerned about putting money in his own pocket. He will only contact you to demand more money but never answer any of your questions. He messed up my estate case because of incorrect paperwork that was filed with the courts. Very condescending and arrogant. In addition, after I fired him, the package that he sent me for my file included documents for someone else's file. Absolute waste of money. I do not recommend using Epstein especially if Paul Portman will be handling your case.

I had to go to trial after my last legal aid lawyer screwed me over. Paul helped me fixed my documents. Never had a lawyer who worked on a weekend and answered my questions as quickly as he did.

I went through 5 lawyers before I found Paul. He was the most aggressive lawyer I could find who did not try to charge me $800+ per hour. Did not think that his rates were unreasonable. He won me a messy divorce and I will always be grateful to him for it. Will definitely go back to him for future issues.

Awful experience with Paul and his firm Epstein.
Pros: Discounted rates through EAP program
Cons:
After 7 months 4 conferences 1 mediation thousands of dollars and a custody motion that went nowhere I had to fire them out of frustration and utter disappointment. I intend to put a complaint through the law society and EAP program who referred them.
Dismissive of suggestions, ideas, or directives. Not on the ball and ready to fight.
Too busy to dedicate time to the case or to respond to important emails (up to 2 weeks)
Company claims I hired the company, yet never provided assistance after months of complaining.
No strategy, reactive and one step behind the opposing council
Patronizing, condescending, defensive and blaming.
Spelling, grammar and factual errors in submissions. Does not keep promises.

This lawyer is not empathetic with his clients, does not present well in the court in front of the judge, has no clue whats going on with his clients, under estimates the costs of his service and sends you a bill in a surprise... basically all the bad characteristics you do not want your lawyer to have, he has got it all in one package. Completely incompetent.

I wish I came to him first. I hired this moron of a lawyer before I came to Paul. I could not believe the world of difference. Paul explained things in normal people talk and did not make me feel stupid for asking questions. I would recommend him to anyone who wants a lawyer who doesn't lie to them about their chances of winning to make a buck.

He is definitely a straight shooter, and I do not think he likes being questioned. I have to say that he is still an amazing lawyer. I did not experience what other people here are saying. He was always available or made time for me whenever I had questions, and always explained things in a simple way. I know his advice was good because I got second opinions and his rates were also lower than many of the other lawyers I tried to talk to. I would recommend him to anyone for any kind of legal issue.

Paul Portman didn't follow my instructions and as a result prejudiced my rights. He's lazy and doesn't like being pushed on issues. His communication skills are very lacking and he spoke to me rudely. In the end, he quit after taking a retainer because he realized he messed up. Avoid at all costs. Even his firm owner is rude and condescending. Avoid this firm at all costs.

Paul Portman seems nice at the very beginning when you first meet him. He doesn't have patience and he doesn't like when you have questions he gets upset and uses bold letters if he is upset. He lies and makes up incorrect statements and overall he is very not a very nice man. I had him for almost two years and he terminate me is that a nice person durning covid pandemic. Stay away far away from him.

I found Paul to be very knowledgeable about family/divorce law. He was very helpful during my entire case which lasted a few months. I remember our first meeting as he made me feel very comfortable. He always provided me with very sound legal advice and was proactive with my case. Compared to others, his rates are also very reasonable. A++++++++++

Paul is an outstanding Civil Lawyer. I contacted him and told him about the difficulties I was having with a debt collection. He asked me very specific questions and was able to determine issues quickly and actually took the time to explain my case to me. He was patient and answered all of my questions and promptly returned my calls. I could tell Paul was hard working and relentless on my case. His experience with collections shows as he obtained an exceptional result in my favor. I could tell that Paul really enjoys what he does and despite a difficult situation for me it was a pleasure working with him. I highly recommend Paul.

I was entirely satisfied with the services which he provided, his knowledge of the law, and his ability to obtain a desirable result in both an efficient and cost-effective way. I am quite surprised by Mr. Portman’s other review. In a recent estate case, Mr. Paul Portman was nothing short of a bully towards me - simply a terrible lawyer. He did not follow proper legal due diligence, nor did he conduct the proper research in the case, but rather, jumped to inaccurate and inappropriate conclusions, while unjustly blaming me for delay in process. I received a number of emails from him with BOLD, underlined and CAPITALIZED sentences, just in case I didn't "get it". This guy was a bully with me even though I followed proper legal protocol, and had no problem threatening me with his own lawsuit against me if I didn't reply back to him within hours with the information that he required to make a quick dime for himself. At the end, he realized that I was telling the truth, yet there was no acknowledgement of this. Terrible lawyer, stay away from this guy!
