My family and I have recently been put through long never ending court proceedings and after having issues with our past lawyer we thankfully found Sonya. She has stepped in and truly helped us move forward with confidence. Dealing with family issues, Especially when there are kids involved, can be scary and incredibly intimidating. Sonya has been a godsend. Could not have chosen a better lawyer to handle our family law matter. She is kind, understanding, empathetic, experienced, and fights hard for us, we have always felt understood and cared for. Sonya is not a well trained lawyer, she has a degree from Australia, knows nothing about canadian law. She has to ask her colleague Tim (she refers to him quite often) to get answers you would think a basic lawyer would know. She was late every single appointment I had with her. She was late for a virtual court date three times. She brings her kid in or talks about her kid still br***t feeding almost everytime I saw her, I never asked. She was dishonest and lazy I caught her in at least 4 big lies to myself, she didn't prepare and it showed no afford at all. She did nothing for my case. She would play games on her phone when we had court instead of preparing me or for the appearance. most unprofessional lawyer in Calgary. I had to switch lawyers. Talked to my new lawyer about her, I guess she has a really bad reputation in the law community for being lazy and not knowing the law. Don't even think about going to her. I actually think she is out of business. THERE'S BETTER LAWYERS!!

Sonya Das is a an absolute champion for her clients. She is clear, open, and concise in developing strategy and assessing how to best navigate one of lifes nastier obstacles (divorce). I struggle when I read some people struggling hearing her child in the background of a phone call, this did happen once between Sonya and I, however she WAS AT HOME HELPING ME OUTSIDE OF OFFICE HOURS! She was very apologetic, and considering she is willing to impact her family time to help a client I am more than grateful she was willing to accommodate my needs at that moment. If you want to play games with your ex, file bs docs, and be a pain to the courts, Ms. Das is NOT the representative you need. If you want to get your divorce over with as little BS as possible, give her a call, she will keep it clear for you, and have your back the whole way through. p.s. my case is still in progress, I am not just giving this review because I won, Sonya has just been a good lawyer and a valuable ally

Very unprofessional she adjourned court 3 times in 6 months due to her not having a sitter. She leaves court documents to the last day before they need to be filed then gets her student to try to do them. Sonya lied many times right to my face. She promised the world then left me with a huge bill and a court case I had to figure out during trial. I would highly recommend representing yourself save your money, Sonya will rip you off and lie.

Ignore anything negative here. Sonya is fantastic. She's understanding, compassionate, and genuinely wants to help you succeed. She has your best interest at heart and is not afraid to fight for it. In the short time I've known her I am amazed by how much she accomplished for me. I have been in court for almost 6 years for parenting time, and she was able to resolve my the majority of my issues in under a month. I will always be grateful and she will be the first person I turn to when I am in need of support again.

Sonya was the second lawyer I went to during my divorce. The first lawyer did nothing to bring resolution. Sonya approached our separation fairly, professionally and fought to come to a fair conclusion without adding extra costs. She took us through mediation and we came out with a solid deal. She is a compassionate and knowledgeable lawyer,an asset for anyone going through the emotionally and financially difficult process of getting divorced.

I recently had the experience of dealing with Sonya as my divorce lawyer, she was extremely professional, upfront and fair. She was understanding of my situation and when I was close to giving up she gave me the confidence I needed to continue. She made it easy to understand my rights and options. She was quick to respond to my concerns and questions even after work hours. I feel she treated me with a great deal of respect and dignity. No effort. Let's her baby cry while attending court phone calls when she was to be IN COURT. Provides no information, no call backs, doesn't keep her word, files documents with info without your knowledge or consent. Waste of time. Really declined in respect towards clients over the last three years.

Sonya strung me along for over two years and never did one thing for me except give me a hefty bill. I am unable to say how knowledgeable she is as she never demonstrated any capability in her field. I will be following up with a complaint to the Alberta Law Society.
