I started with my own settlement proposal and my ex's lawyer's counter offer. Brant was sure I had cause and encouragement me to return to Red Deer from Ontario for a face to face mediation. By the end of the process I was down $2,000 from the original counter offer. Time was lost, nothing was gained. To add insult to injury a final bill was submitted to get the signed copy of the settlement. While it was charged to me, and included fees for me to tell him of my dissatisfaction, the invoice included work done for someone else. My ex provided the signed copy of the settlement and I refused to make any additional payments.
