I had a very positive experience with Mellissa and her staff. She gave great advice and was very knowledgeable throughout my separation and divorce. I would defiantly recommend her to anyone in my position or in need of legal advise. Mellissa and her team are true professionals.

I could almost cut and paste the comment below. It’s exactly what happened to me. She’s as far away from the court house for a reason. She either never goes, doesn’t want to go or doesn’t know where it is. I’m not a family law lawyer but I think you have to leave your office at some point other than to just go home. And the google reviews. Read them closely. Probably an assignment for the staff. The lawyer I hired to do something other than her letter writing campaign for me had also never heard of her - and sad she looked 17. Pay more (elsewhere), get more I learned.

I think she’s so far away from the court house tells you everything you need to know. I was bill 1/2 hr to read an email - because she said she made notes. I asked for the notes. No notes. Talks on the phones a lot and sends pointless letters usually for the bills for the other pointless letters. No one has heard of her and no one has heard of her for a reason. I’m taking her to Taxation. Watch your bill. You’ll pay $5 to sit down and $20 for a fake smile. File goes nowhere. It’s like purgatory. Go start w a new lawyer will cost another $5000. Get someone older, more relatable, more important clientele. She struggles. And it’s my life and my kids that pay the price. Keep charging, Melissa. 6 months later. Just at the letter phase still. I went cheap and paid for it. Avoid my mistake.

I came in for a consult on a Saturday. Yes I said a Saturday. Melissa took the time to go through everything with me. She has a plan together and we are going down the right path. I recommend Melissa and Oakley Family law to everyone.

Melissa made time for me the day before I was leaving with my( joint custody) son for vacation in Mexico. I had forgotten to get the paperwork drafted that is required at boarder services. Very reasonably priced and fast turnaround saved the day. Thank you Melissa.

I spent a huge amount of money over 2 years (before she opened her own office) and got no where. She also gave me really bad advice telling me not to include my employment bonus information in my financial disclosure. She said it would be considered as property so I didn't have to disclose it as income. This was completely wrong and of course it made ME look like I was trying to be dishonest when questioned on it. I later moved to a different lawyer, Kirsten Grant, who wrapped up my case in 5 months and properly explained how bonus income works. My new lawyer not only finished my case quickly, but at a fraction of the cost of what Melissa charged me. Melissa also lost important documents of mine and charged me extra money to do the same thing 2 or 3 times (emailing the same letter to me twice and charging me for each email). Dealing with my second lawyer, Kirsten, was a way better experience. I wish I had found Kirsten first.
