Hubris is the worst quality in professional. Wright is/was a member of the Law Society board of directors. Reading his correspondence demonstrated his belief in his infallibility. Wright certified the last Will of a deceased family member after she suffered multiple strokes. When challenged, he stated that a series of cursory questions assured him she was competent. Reviewing his letter with medical and legal professionals left all shocked.Wright never obtained previous Will, which had protections for a mentally incapacitated primary beneficiary. The new Will does not and severely decreases the bequest to the family of the executor. Wright compounded his mistakes by certifying the executor’s claim that this beneficiary was competent. The executor and his family met with the incapable beneficiary’s without his supervisory team and obtained his signature. The beneficiary was triggered by the meeting and has deteriorated. The impact of Wright’s hubris is immeasurable.
